Yes, that IS racist! What problems would be in your future because of the girl you marry? None, unless they were caused by more racist people!

My parents don't like interracial relationships, they don't want me to date a female that isn't the same heritage as me. Are they racists? They say if I date or marry a girl that's the different race or heritage, there can be many problems in the future dealing with many kinds of stuff. There are positive and negative views. Asian parents are just like that. I find it a little racist. But what problems would there be? I don't think there are any. ![]() |

Not only can interracial relationships result in unhappiness for the individuals involved, but it can also affect their family members. There might exist language barriers between families, making it difficult for the couple to live harmoniously with each other's loved ones. This can cause unnecessary conflict and broken relationships. Let's suppose an interracial relationship goes on to become an interracial marriage. The problems suddenly become more serious. Interracial couples are constantly haunted by questions such as, "Which culture will my child belong to? What cultural values will I instil in my child? Will my son or daughter be ostracised from both ethnic backgrounds because s/he is mixed? Will they be confused as to their identity and heritage?" What it all comes down to is what we try so hard to ignore: two people from two different cultures are not the same. They have different backgrounds, different customs, different beliefs, different ideas, and different lifestyles. Opposites might attract, but can they really survive? Don't think so.

im filipino and my bf is spanish. a bit similar cultures, but alot of different customs and traditions and etc. i did ask what language should our children speak, we both agreed on all 3 languages. that is a lot of languages to know. but hey we want our kids to know something about each culture. there isnt really a language barrier because we both know how to speak english.

They have different backgrounds, different customs, different beliefs, different ideas, and different lifestyles. Opposites might attract, but can they really survive? Don't think so. Bull. Different ethnicities do not equal different languages, and a language barrier does not automatically mean that families can't get along. My mom is African American and Native American. My dad is Polish, Scottish, German, Irish, British and Italian. They're both from the U.S. Their families are from the U.S. We all speak English. Black people do not hate me because I'm half white. White people don't hate me because I'm half black. And just because a child's parents are from two different cultural backgrounds, you don't have to choose just one. You can choose both. No, they won't be confused, and in fact being part of a minority can help them later in life. Even people from the SAME ethnic background aren't necessarily alike. NO ONE is the same, race has nothing to do with it. If two parents are white, but one is Christian and one is Jewish, how is that any different than having a hispanic parent and a black parent? It's not. You just need to realize that there's nothing wrong with interracial relationships and that not everyone shares the prejudiced views that you do. |

Not only can interracial relationships result in unhappiness for the individuals involved, but it can also affect their family members. First of all, why would someone have a relationship if they're unhappy with the other person? What it all comes down to is what we try so hard to ignore: two people from two different cultures are not the same. They have different backgrounds, different customs, different beliefs, different ideas, and different lifestyles. Opposites might attract, but can they really survive? Don't think so. Reallllyy? Well, my sister (Chinese.) has been in a relationship with a white male for over a year now and they're talking about getting married and having kids. Neither sides of the family have problems with it. No language barriers, no nothing. |

Actually, can i just ask, if you're so convinced that the interracial realtionships are doomed to fail, then why do you care about ht easian girls dating the white guys?
surely, they're going to break up, and end up with an asian guy, truely happy in a perfect little bubble world... or does that interfere with illogical rant time? |

maybe, because she LIKES THE GUY BEST? see, you claim you arent racist, and yet you are talking from a completely ethnocentric viewpoint. i think you should stop, as you are digging yourself a hole ^agreed. seriously from what you are talking about, it makes it seem that you are racist and like he said earlier, ur digging urself deeper and deeper into the hole. have any of you seen that video on youtube, yellow feaver? its pretty much the same thing as this topic and its pretty funny. |

http://myspace-262.vo.llnwd.net/01038/26/29/1038869262_m.jpg ^that would be the result of jessica alba's face with down syndrome .. wow now thats really mean. now you are bashing on people with down syndrome???? people don't get down syndrome because of race.... im guessing your parents REALLY drilled it into your head of how bad interacial relationships are. A lot of parents are like that, but doesn't mean you have to listen to them. What if you do get attracted a black girl or a white girl? oh im sorry you prollie wouldn't listen to your heart, but what your parents have to say. you are a mess. |
