Im sorry if there's a topic on this already but yeah
welll I'm pretty confused on what race Filipinos are. what are they? asian or pacific islander?

Pacific Islander. The Philippines is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean.

The Philippines are in the Asia continent, therefore, Filipinos are Asians.

But then they have to fill in the "Pacific Islander" bubble on standardized tests.

^ I think it means that some Filipinos do not wish to be classified as Asians, when they actually ARE Asians. :\

I'd say Pacific Islander, but I guess you could say Filipinos are Asian.

  .....we are Asians we arent pacific islanders . we are like mutts that were formed by the aboriginese , Malay , and the upper asian countires .

In the Philippines, we were taught that we are southeast asian. They didn't say we were Pacific Islander. |

My logic is, if Filipinos are Pacific Islanders, then the Japanese are Pacific Islanders too, because technically Japan is a group of islands in the Pacific too, isn't it?
My standardized tests say "Asian / Pacific Islander" so I never really thought about it XD |
