Chinese author, and her stories are based on Chinese backgrounds and lifestyle. I've read The Joy Luck Club (and I just found out that it's my summer reading for next year, which means that I have to read it again), The Kitchen God's Wife, and my recent read, Saving Fish from Drowning (new, came out dec 05).

Oh lordy.
Quit arguing. There's no point.
There aren't any topics on Amy Tan.

I think Amy Tan is a good author, but her books are alike.
I've read The Kitchen God's Wife, The Bonesetter's Daughter, and something else.. but I forgot the name xp
I've also read her short story, Fish Cheeks.
Her books are interesting, though. Probably because I can relate so well to the Chinese culture

Not meaning to be a hypocrite, but in what way is you and Kameko arguing about who's better or who's the dumbass or who's position is what in life-- continuing the topic discussion on Amy Tan books?
None whatsoever.
So please, if you posted this topic to start arguments, then stop.

Amy Tan is a brilliant writer. I loved The Joy Luck Club. The movie was wonderful as well.

I will read The Joy Luck Club in the upcoming school yeat. I'll see how her books are like. I have read her short stories and I like how they reflect the Asian American views.

^Uhmm, congrats? flowers.gif

She's a brilliant author, but her books are really similar. I loved the JLC movie, there were some twists, but it was quite a tearjerker. cool.gif

But at least I'll know what they're talking about when they speak in Mandarin.
The ping ying in that book is soooooo weird.
