This may find a new seat in my top ten worst films of all time. What a incoherent, busy, mess of an effort. Drama school acting, no direction, awful collection of red herrings, false starts, and embarrassing camp. De Palma sets a new low for himself; what a douche bag!

I encourage you: Do not see this noir-wannabe overdeveloped trash! Unless, of course, you like to torture yourself.

I must, okay I don't "must" have to, but I really want to, ask you something. Do you go into a movie theater with an open mind? Completely open mind?

Yes. I know that was totally bad grammar.

I wanted to watch this originally.
But after spending an hour reading up on the real case info, I'm a little freaked out.

Yes.
I absolutely adore film.
My expectations of this film were nothing but poor. It was a De Palma film, Josh Hartnett was in it, the trailer looked pretty bad, and the buzz was enough to make me want to vomit. However, I don't allow my expectations to define a movie for me. I'm very open minded and take each film at face value. Many a time my expectations are blown away. This happened to be one of those situations. I was expecting simply a mediocre film, nothing too special, and in some cases, just plain bad. However, what I saw was beyond plain bad and sunk further below par than I could have ever imagined. It was awful beyond my expectations.

Total shit, and I can say that having gone in with an open mind. For serious.

But, also note, I'm a film snob. I have rather high standards in regions of film and a very defined, yet eclectic, taste. But, in my honest summation, this movie will be hated by the general public as well. But, don't take my word for it, sneak into a theater and see it. wink.gif

Well, it doesn't really have anything to do with the real facts of the case. In fact, a good deal of it is made up. There's some goriness, but nothing a teenager who grew up with cable wouldn't be able to handle.

Yeah, it blew big time. Brian De Palma is a hack. Which is a shame because I was looking forward to it.

And Scarlett Johannsen cannot act. Period, dot dash. She was horrible. I hated how her way of emoting was to stand there with her mouth opened like a fish. I did like the mother though. She was at least genuinely entertaining.
