When I woke up this morning and heard my mom saying something about my step-dad about an e-mail she had gotten about Steve Irwin.
We have a few friends in Austraila and she couldn't sleep, so my mom was reading her email at 2 am (afternoon Aussie time). She got an email from someone who worked with Steve.
When she told me he had died, I started crying. I know it's really sad, but I did.
I have looked up to Steve since I was like, 7. He was always a hero of mine because of his love of animals.

In 2003 the same person came to our national Silky Terrier (Austrailan breed of dog) National Show. For our auction she had a book by him and Terri and my mom bid on it and won it for me. She came to our room later and asked me if I wanted, I could write a letter to him and she would personaly give it to him.

Two months later I got a package back from Austraila. From her, and enclosed was a letter saying "I gave the letter to Steve and Terri and they sent you a few things in return".

Steve had written me a letter (not just some assiant of theirs, but him) and he signed it. They sent me the book back both had signed it and a few things from the Zoo in Beerwah, Queensland. I have the book and the letter wrapped up someplace, I would have to find it. I have a magnet though on my fridge (lol.).

I think he was a really awesome person for a young kid to look up to. He showed not to have fear of the world, and to always go for your dreams.

It's really sad. I plan on sending a card to Terri and the family our friend said she would e-mail her address back to us.

He was not only an icon in Austraila but here as well.

Yeah, I heard the news like this morning, a friend of mine told me. That's so sad... He was a pretty cool guy and I like watching his show on Animal Planet. I wonder if there gonna show re-runs.. He's so awesome. Stoopid sting-ray -.-" On some other news, it said that it went through his chest & his heart, ouch.

R.i.P Steve.

I was so shocked when I heard this today.
I guess it never entered my mind that he could actually die while doing this stuff. I mean come close to death, sure. Or be incredibly stupid while doing so, yah. But actually die? Ah, I was very shocked.

This is so sad =(

I heard on Good Morning America this morning that there have only been 3 reported deaths from any kind of sting ray incident, including Steve Irwin. sad.gif

It seems so surreal. I loved that guy so much.

Awww. Wow. He seemed (this just further supports it) like a genuinely good person, you know? I mean.. you see celebrities on TV, and he was an altogether different breed of celebrity. One that a child could look up to, as you stated. sad.gif

He was stung by the stingray then died half an hour later due to a heart attack that was caused by the stingrays toxins in its tail...

Heard it at uni...

It actually wasn't the poison. Stingray poison is fairly slow-acting in humans. However, the tail barb is like a knife. He died from a stab wound to the heart.

I liked Steve Irwin since he basically the only person I liked to watch on Animal Planet and his daughter is adorable. But I find it funny how everybody's giving him lots of big recognition and showing his shows more often now than when he was alive.

Really? That's cute, and I'd love to see his daughter take over his show one day. _smile.gif A mini Steve. How cute would that be?! Haha. I hope they won't die the same way, though. pinch.gif

We still miss you Steve. I wish this wasn't true...... sad.gif
