K, i'm going to critique these as though they were in the graphic queue. I dont mean to be mean, but seriously..you need help if you want to get somewhere.

I mean this all very nicely.

The text is very pixelated on almost all of them. The pictures are very stretched out and improperly cropped. Some of the decorations (hearts, mainly) are pixelated as well.

I also think that they could use some more..brushes..something. Liven' em up a bit.

I mean this all very very nicely. I swear.

She really does want to help ^^

They're not all that bad..Simple which can be good. I'd rate em overall 7/10
If it were me...and I know im not the best at making graphics.. (yet) I would have added a bit more to the pirates of the caribean banner..cuz it looks like you just added the stripes. It doesnt look bad But I would have added or did something different to make it special and pleasing to the eye :)

Overall they're not bad. Good luck on your future icons :)

All the font is pixelated so if you want simple, perhaps get the main thing [the font] not pixelated and very pleaseing to look at. The animation doesn't match at all and its annoying in a way to look at. on the P!ATD one you can't even read the font and well its pixelated as well. The Ashley Tisdal[sp] ones are stretched out perhaps crop them properly.

what program are you using?

I'm not to sure about this, but perhaps save them as jpg as well.

Text-only icons... Grrliz has a awse guide on them.
For some more examples of exactly what you can do with text-only icons... Well, I only made 106 of them. And yes. I have major problems, but that's not the point! Yours are boring and wouldn't attract someone's eye. With proper placement and font... You'll get something just as eye-catching (if not more so) than any other icon.
----
For the cropping bit. Resize your image first (and yes, you want it to have scaling). And then make a new document (100 by 100 px), paste your resized image, and then drag it around until you've got a satisfactory "crop".
----
Overall, if those icons were teasers for a bigger batch, I wouldn't check out the rest of your icons. They don't capture me. There's nothing special about them that makes me go "WOW! I wonder what the rest would look like".

This isn't meant to be mean. Just really honest, because I make so many icons. And yes, even mine turn out like crap sometimes. In fact, they do most of the time.

^ That is very refreshing. flowers.gif Some people take things way too personally. I can tell you with full confidence that Kristina and the folks that have responded here really know their stuff.

I think you are off to a pretty good start in your icon-making career. I would definitely take the time to peruse through the site Reili pointed out. I did ( laugh.gif ) and there is a lot of inspiration there.

I thing the font is too pixely.Maybe you should add other things than just a brush and a font.I like the idea of quotes though.
