This was a rant I wrote a few months ago, directed towards the people on Myspace and a few forums I frequent. Discuss your opinions on this.

You hear many people complaining about discrimination, and how it's wrong to indulge in something as cruel as that. Many people are quick to defend those who are victims of forms of discrimination, mostly rascisim. But how many people defend "fat" people, hmm? I'm not talking about extremely obese people who can't move and need five chickens a day in order to survive. I'm talking about people who don't fit society's shallow standards of what is fit, of what is healthy, of what is normal. My best friend has difficulties living her life because her body doesn't fit society's standards. She's one of the most amazing people I have the honor of knowing. She's beautiful inside and out, she's intelligent, resourceful, and has a big, kind heart. But people are cruel. She's had a lifetime worth of teasing because she has never been thin. How do you think this takes a toll on her mental health? She's not fat, no, not at all. She's a healthy-sized girl, but society is disgusted by her. This girl has no confidence, no self-esteem. She is loath to step foot in public. Because of the influx of cruel people in this world.

Yes, I'm aware I'm accusing a lot of people-- this might even be directed towards you. I read cruel, shallow remarks from stupid people every time I go on most forums, on Myspace. You act like people you think are fat aren't people at all! You have no consideration for their feelings. To you, all that matters is your foolish, shallow fancies. You haven't an original thought in your head. You go with the flow, living your life at the beck and call of others, never living a life of purpose. You are a waste of oxygen, the reason I abhor people. You're probably laughing as you read this, not even having the ability to see the truth of my words. You're like little blind sheep. You know what sheep do, right? They follow one another. If one jumps off a cliff to their death, the others jump off without hesitation. I accuse you of being blind because you don't have the intellect to see the world for what it is, to see people and situations for what they are. Instead, you continue with your foolish little jabs at people who don't dress like you, people who aren't as famished as you, people who doesn't like the same things as you. You can laugh at the bigger women who post pictures of themselves on their Myspaces, saying you don't want to look at their ugly bodies, but you know what? While you're laughing at everyone for not being like you, physically and intellectually, we're laughing our asses off at you because we're not blind sheep. We're living life the way it's meant to be lived. We have a purpose to live. So, go ahead. Go giggle with your friends because a "fat" girl posted pictures of herself on Myspace. You may fear what people think of you, but that girl you're laughing at...? At least she has the courage to accept herself for who she is. You can't, which is why laughing at them makes you feel better. :)


Disclaimer: I apologize to the many people here who do not do this. There will be always be exceptions. Prove me wrong, please. I'd be glad to find people in this world who realize there is more to life than what you wear and how you look.
