Okay so at my school, as another way to show uppclassmen (Junior & Senior), and lowerclassmen (Fresh & Soph), we have bottom & top lockers.
Lowerclassmen obviously get bottom lockers, and uppclassmen obviously get top lockers. And this year, as I enter Junior year, at orientation they happily state that "To end all confusion of the office reassigning lockers, we decided to keep the locker the same this year." SO just because they're lazy- us Juniors lose one of our upper classmen privileges and have a bottom locker ONCE again. And probably for senior year too. But what really sucks is that, the empty top lockers from the Seniors LAST year, go to the INCOMING FRESHMEN this year. *Why can't we get those, and freshmen get ours?* Tell me that's not unfair? We complained (yesterday was just orientation really) that it's not fair and stuff and all the assistant principal said was that "It's the 21st century, enjoy the change & the exercise of bending down." The principal said that "You don't know how easier this is for us not having to reassign lockers and combinations." *mad* Sorry that this was long. |

But what's the deal with having a bottom locker? This has never happened to any school I went to nor have I heard about schools doing this, but I don't see why it should be a big deal. Being a junior or senior doesn't mean you have to be given certain privileges. It would be nice, yes, but freshmen get top lockers, so what? Having a top locker doesn't/shouldn't mean you're special (just because you're an upper classman). It doesn't necessarily mean school officials are lazy. I find it ridiculous that the school would "classify" students through the assigning of lockers. You'll get used to it.

^ well, in middle school we had top and bottom lockers as well. it's hard having a bottom locker because while you're trying to crouch down and get all of your things, the people next to you and the person above you are all crowded around the group of lockers. it's so much easier when you're standing becasue you can push your way through and get your things without having to try to squeeze in between a bunch of people.

A lot of priveleges at my school have been taken away and will continue to be taken away, because we have a new principal who has a stick up his ass forreal. If you are caught "loitering or lingering" by any area of the school for over 10 minuters after school has been dismissed and you are without a teacher..you get ISS. Lingering on school property after dismissal? That is crazy. People do that all the time.

Exactly. I wouldn't be complaining if it weren't like this. And now, i'll have a freshman blocking my way lol. But this time I'll ask them to move. i was always intimidated of the senior above me. though.. she could never open her locker haha |

i think that is just messed up, thank goodness my school does it evenly, so it doesn't matter what year you're in you get bottom or top lockers.

This isn't a problem for us at the high school I'm going to because most of the time, we don't even use our lockers at school. We just carry our backpacks from class to class. Saves time.
And in middle school, the different grades got different floors, so there was never any problem with lockers. |

The locker policy is ridiculous and discrimination. Why is the lower locker are for the lowerclassmen and upper lockers for the upperclassmen? Wtf. Does the school want to point out who is a freshman/senior or not? Why the f**k does it matter? I think, any students should get any locker. Why are they division among class level? What's the point? It's so pathetic. Do people care about that?
Whatever. The school should have locker lotto. |

you have tops and bottoms.
we have tops, middles, and bottoms. be thankful. yes, our lockers are tiny. anyways: what you can do is complain to the principal. say that it's fine if you want to let us have the same lockers every year, but for this year they have to open up all the lockers to everyone, then the next year not reassign lockers. and then, get a ton of people and steal freshmen's lockers. literally. if the freshmen don't give you the lockers, superglue them or something. it won't really get anything done( for instance, putting your stuff in a stolen locker would be a bad idea, but it would annoy the administrators on end and show them how much you guys don't like the policies. they may just get rid of lockers, in which case you need to start bringing luggage to class. the thing is, you have to get everyone to do it. |

That's really silly. They could just, you know, try a different locker method. At my school, we don't have any class priorities like that, because every teacher is given a certain number of lockers, and during third period classes they give everyone a slip of paper with the number and combination. Odd are top, even are bottom. Teachers typically give them out at random, or randomly select people to pick theirs out, and then we just write them down on the list and sign.
I've gotten screwed every year, though. Freshman year I got a locker nowhere near any of my classes because I had band third, sophomore year I had band third again and didn't get a locker at all (so I had to share, even though we aren't allowed to. That was fun), l;ast year mine was by a class, but I could never get to it so I had to carry all my books anyway. Plus, I had gotten a top locker, it wouldn't open, and by the time I figured that out, all the top ones were taken already. This year, yet again, I've gotten stuck with a bottom locker even though I'm a senior. I have art third period and they told us to get them from our fourth period teachers. I did, and was fine with that because it's the most conveniently located, but ithe class before had gotten priority. |

bottom lockers suck. i think that is unfair, and i would be mad too. luckily my school doesn't do that. freshmen and sophmores are on one hall and juniors and seniors are on the other. whether you get top or bottom is just the luck of the draw.

Wow. That really doesn't seem like a horribly big deal. At a very large number of schools you keep your locker for 4 years.
The administration has quite a bit to do, I'm sure assigning new lockers with new combinations to new students just wasn't as important as making sure all the chairs don't fall apart when you sit on them. But yea, I totally see how having a locker nearer to the floor makes you feel slighted I mean the best air is totally higher, and who gave them the right to make you bend down thats a freshman's job. |

i dont think seperating the grades by locker is that big of a deal either. for me, i'm not complainging just because "as a junior i dont have a top locker and i just lost a privilege" (even though thats what i named this thread lmao) RIGHT NOW; since school has started, i just hate the bottom. it's a hassle. it's annoying. lol. i know i can suck it up and everything, but whats more annoying is seeing all the freshman hogging the space with their top locker and taking forever because they cant even get it open lol

I didn't read all the replies.
Buuuut... we've had a lot of our privileges taken away. My brother's class was the start of it, he graduated 2005, but I have feeling that my class is not going to behave very good because now the kids below us are going to be getting the privileges they've taken away from us. In our school the juniors and seniors would always get the widest hallway with the wider lockers, and freshmen always get the ones in the back of the school. So when they made up the stupid rule that you had to keep your locker all 4 years I was a freshmen. I was soooo happy when I found out that we'd be getting new lockers this year (junior year) and now I'm down the wide hallway, even though I don't have a wide locker until next year. My school is more messed up than the average school though. |

We have full sized lockers, HA HA! One thing I dislike is that we, the Juniors have to pay for the Seniors prom. Why do they do that? If you have to pay for you're own prom, you will sell more stuff. I hate our school district. They are too busy looking into ways of banning cell phone instead of the real problems at hand.
Don't even get me started on the cell phones. They made a stupid "rule" that ended up in multiple lawsuits from the parents, and now they are pissed of because they did something illegal... |

We have full sized lockers to. The whole top and bottom thing was in MS. Pain if you ask me.
But making the upperclassmen seem more important is stupid. It should be random. Our lockers are assigned next to our second period class and if you change your schedule the first day you're screwed. You'll get a locker a million miles away from your classes. Juniors have to pay for the seniors prom to! I dont get it either. Why dont the seniors just pay for it? |

At my school everyone gets top and bottom lockers. I don't know what the big deal is unless they took away something like getting to go off campus or something like that.

I must say, when it comes to my school the lockers are so oddly well (it's supposed to be luck of the draw), most of the time tall people have top lockers.
Also, the past two years it's been very odd seeing that almost everyone who had a top or bottom locker last year has the same this year. Sadly, the bottom group includes me. I had #350 in 9th, currently have #188 in 10th I hate bottom lockers sadly, all the kneeling down and having to wait or jam myself between groups, it sucks. But my school does nothing about it, all they say is "look, we have all the lockers set up and none can be changed. Sorry". 350 sucked last year, and 188 is atrocious |
