well i was due for my period a few days ago and i'm scared that i might be pregnant. the last time my boyfriend and i had sex was on august 10, and we used protection [the condom didn't break or anything so there's no way that the semen got in]. yesterday we were fooling around and his penis was near my bare vagina but he said that there was no precum. for the past couple of days i've been doing tons of research about signs of pregnancy which has been making me even more worried and paranoid. my period used to be consistent and i wuold get it around the same time every month. however, for the past few months it's been irregular [i used to get it at the beginning of the month but now i get it at the middle of the month]. i'm not sure if the reason why it's late is because i'm stressing so much about it. i can't help it though...for the first time in my life i really want my period to come. i don't know what to do. i'd appreciate advice from anyone who has been in the same situation or knows anything about pregnancy.

I guess the only way you can really tell is take a pregnancy test. But sometimes the results come out wrong, so buy a few of them so you can take it more than once, just in case you think it doesn't come out right.

The stress could be an important factor as to why your period is late though. ermm.gif

Try not to stress too much about it. When I was stressed my period came 3 weeks late... but yeah follow everyone else's advice and just get a pregnancy test at a drug store.

Try your best and relax. You need to go ahead and inform your boyfriend about this, just so he has his fair warning. You need to go out and get a pregnancy test, and next time if you get worried this much, don't do anything or perhaps go get the morning after pill next time.

i know what you mean.
trying going on the pill though if want to prevent this worry...

i've been in the same situation though. worrying & stressing over your period will actually delay your period. so evidently it gives you the wrong thoughts sometimes. just listen to your boyfriend when he tells you that there was no precum, this and that, i know your mind will wander. i know mine's did. just relax. and wait patiently. i know it's hard though wacko.gif

Yeah, stress can play a main reason in why your period may be late. I know this is a horrible comparison but when women go through basic training (for the military) they skip a period or two because of stress.
I would just suggest to go get one of the over the counter pregnancy tests, they're like 99% accurate. Don't stress too much because lots of women have irregular periods.
If they keep staying irregular let your parents know and the doctor will probably put you on the pill to help prevent irregular periods.

A little advice to avoid this little situation in the future: don't have sex at 15 if you don't want to get pregnat :)

^ i'll be 16 in a month...and i'm not asking for "advice" about that. wink.gif

thanks for all of your advice...i really do appreciate it. my boyfriend knows and we've been trying to stay as calm and collected as possible. my friend went through the same exact situation except her boyfriend did not use a condom and they only had sex for a minute or so. her period was late for 5 weeks, but she finally got it. my boyfriend is buying several pregnancy tests tomorrow [so that i can take one every day for the next few days just to be safe]. i've also been getting cramps, headaches, mood swings [like hell], and bloating for the past week...so im pretty sure everything's alright. thank god.

Condoms are NOT 100% protection... It's something like 85% (which isn't really too great, if you think about it). I'd definitely see a doctor, just to get it all straightened out at the least.

And if you ARE pregnant, I hear it's easier to tell your parents earlier than later... :) console.gif

Best of luck to you.

^ when used correctly, condoms are 99% effective. we use spermicidal ones which decreases the chance even more. even though i still haven't gotten my period nor taken a pregnancy test yet, we've both decided that we won't have sex anymore. it's definitely not worth all of this worrying and i don't want to ever be in this situation again.

Go on the PILL!

I had sex with my hs boyfriend (with condoms) all the time. But it broke once! And I FREEEEAKED! I took the morning after pill...so whew!

I know you're getting symptoms of a period, but those same symptoms are somewhat similar with pregnancy.

Believe me I know.

-BAD BAD headaches (more than typical ones before periods)
-Mood swings
-Tender breasts
-Tender abdomen (big sign)
-Breast appear bigger as well as nipples. (another big sign)
-Bloating

I'm just giving you a heads up. But definitely take a prego test to be sure! thumbsup.gif

GOOD LUCK!

thanks...i'd like to apologize for getting defensive earlier. i just really hate it when people assume that i'm irresponsible all because i'm young and sexually active. after going through all of this, i realized that even though we DO use condoms, there's still not a 100% chance that i'm not pregnant. i guess when i'm old enough to take birth control [without getting approval from my parents] i'll be less scared and worried.

I dunno what to say but hey. If it makes you feel any better, I was in the same situation you're in a couple months ago...my period totally shifted to the middle of the month but I didn't get pregnant.

Maybe it's the stress of thinking you're pregnant is keeping your period from coming.

All I have to say is I'm kinda glad that you've both decided that sex isn't worth all the worry and stress. I guess it's another example of why sex isn't all it's made up to be.
The sad part is a lot of young girls don't realize this until they are pregnant. At least you're educated about sex and aren't promiscuous. thumbsup.gif

Will do. And I'm glad you're taking precautions... by not doing it at all. Haha. =)
