What's your opinion on them? My dad and I ordered a Dell Inspiron E1405 today and I'm pretty excited. When my mom found out, she freaked 'cause she hates Dell (but I think it's 'cause my sister gave her her old one that freezes a lot). Anyway, it's way better than my computer (which constantly reminds me how I have low virtual memory and low disk space. Ugh.)
So I was wondering what other people thought about it. If you have one, is it good? Any problems? I just want to know if the computer we ordered is good enough so I can quit worrying. |

I think it's pretty hit and miss, from what I've heard and read.
I have an emachine currently (what?? I'm poor! ![]() I'm sure your Dell will do just fine for what you need to do. |

Well theyve recently issued a recall on laptop batteries that have been installed in some of their machines dating all the way back to 2004 I think, up til recently.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300.
It's pretty reliable, and I like the convenient music player on the front. |

I have a Dell xps. It's nice. Awesome for doing some major multi fuctioning.
![]() Only problem is though, my dad went crazy and spent $3000 dollars on it for me and my sister for Christmas. We've had some minor problems, but overall its been a great computer so far. We might have a bad processor though. OHHH- if you got a printer along with your new computer, you have to order the ink cartriges straight from dell. Its a pain in the butt to do, because you cant buy them in stores like you can with other brands. Plus, they're a little pricey. |

Dells are nice computers, you get what you pay for. If you buy the $299 dollar computer, dont expect a work of art that will never have anything wrong with it, and don’t expect the best tech support on earth.
I have a Dell XPS laptop, its heavy and bulky, but it kicks ass. Back when we ordered it, Intel Centrino was the “new” thing. It was expensive, but worth every penny. It came with 5 years of on site support, and phone support. Which, the XPS computers come with American Tech Support, that alone is worth the money. Last thing that went wrong was a dead pixel, and it was fixed within 4 days of calling them. We also have a dell desktop, which we have only had one problem with that. The floppy drive went out once. I called and told them I could replace it myself, but they sent a dell technician to replace it which is really unheard of in the computer market now-a days. |

Dell's tech support is hit or miss. My mother & brother both had the same problem with their identical laptops at diffent times. It took my brother a week to get his fixed, it took my mother 2 months.

they're good, but you get what you pay for with anything.
I have one of their higher end computers. the XPS 400 with a bunch of addons. cost a couple thousand. even though i might get an even more powerful computer from somewhere else, i haven't had any problems with it, besides virus' i've gotten myself. they're a good company. i'm probably going to buy a server from them. ![]() |

I don't settle with Dell, they advertise to much. I either go with Sony VAIO's or Custom built CPU's/PC. I currently have A VAIO Rz series

My parents had a dell for the longest time, the only issue was probably of MY doing.
But when they crash man, they crash and there ain't nothing nobody can do about it. Also for a while I was using my friends Dell Insirpion (sp) laptop?!?! (I don't remember the name) and it worked alright, but the keyboard didn't work (it fell off) but other then that pretty solid. Although it doesn't work well for using things like photoshop, and aim, and 30 other things you might want to do. But that's just me. |

I have yet to find a laptop with a good keyboard. I've broken an iBook, a Dell, Gateway, Sony Vaio, HP, Toshiba, and I think that's it. And some of those weren't even mine ![]() I really want an Alienware laptop :) Those things are really awesome. I don't like Dell. The XPS is REALLY ugly. And bulky. And you're talking about the Inspirion? The ugly black ones? Those suck.. With mine, the Enter, Control, and left Shift buttons fell off. And it was just really ugly. And the PCs, IMO, are really big. And too cheap and bad. |

well, i love dells. right now i have a shitty inspiron that's about 2 years old. for my 16th birthday [in about a month] i'm getting the xps 400 desktop. it's only about $1400 after i put in 2g of memory, a 20" widescreen flat panel monitor, and the 256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE graphics card. i think that it's very reasonably priced and i can't wait until i get my new computer because the one i have right now is sooo slow.

That all we run are dell power edge and power vault servers. They are expensive, but there rack mount servers are well worth the money. The tech support you get with Dell when buying a Server is amazing as well. It is like comparing a Ford to a Bentley. You will find that they run a lot smoother then Dell PCs as well. I could go on and on.... I don't settle with Dell, they advertise to much. I either go with Sony VAIO's or Custom built CPU's/PC. I currently have A VAIO Rz series Advertising makes or brakes a company, in Dells case... It made the company, "Dude you're getting a Dell!" was a widely known phrase back in the day. A good example is Coca-Cola. When Coke first hit the market, it was for sale in one soda shot, then word of mouth took over. After that, they plastered the Coca-Cola logo everywhere, on soda machines, cans, bottles, and in stores. Now, Coca-Cola is the second most known word in the world, only second to OK. Not to mention Coca-Cola is known in every country over the world. As you can see, I love Coca-Cola. LOL |
