You are welcome to voice your opinions on those who have already applied to be on staff. You may also name those who you think would make great mods in general, even if they haven't applied yet.

Yes, I understand some of you are very excited, but don't turn this into a spam thread. _smile.gif

Jane is My Cinderalla, right?

Yes, she is.

She needs to be more active though.

^ and ^^ Ok. She's a wonderful poster, but sure haven't seen her much this summer.

I would like to bring back James' thought regarding why you think such and such would make a good moderator. It would be enlightening and very welcomed, because it truly is useful to get an idea of how the community feels about potential staff.

Really, I haven't been THIS detached from cB.
I barely know half of the people applying for staff. mellow.gif

P.S. Hi to those whom I know! :D

Radhika: Well you have toned down since your episode wink.gif but then again, a lot of your former crowd has too. I know you are passionate about cB and I do think that you have a lot of potential.

Aw, thank you Rachel! My episode? laugh.gif Yeah, I don't usually have a lot of those. >>;; But when something really gets me going, it really gets me going. But again, thanks Rachel. That's the first kind of suggestion/comment I've gotten within this thread.

Besides Robbi, I also think Melissa, Tina, or Radhika would be good choices.

May I ask... why?

That's not to say they wouldn't be good choices. I'm just trying to extract from people why it is you believe <enter applicant's name here> would be a good choice. :)

Robbi - Well she has been on the forums sometimes now, She's very nice , helpful and considerate towards others. Someone mentioned that she was once banned for spamming. To follow up that question, people do change, and I personally think since then ( which was over a year ago) she has matured and developed into a highly valid choice for mod. She also gives helpful advice.

Radhika - Her intelligence if far beyond her age, she is always up to date with current events, and I wouldn't have a doubt that she would excel as a mod also.

Tina - I think Tina is very humble and courteous, and considerate to others, she is also helpful.

Melissa - I here complaints about inactivity, but Melissa on the other hand is very active on CB, I'm pretty positive she could easily have a watchful eye over the forums.

Welcome back Winnie! throb.gif

I agree with KC on Robbi. Hands down, boys.

By the way, I'm gonna be honest. I don't know about Kiki. She doesn't seem fit for the job =x People say she's oblivious and all and that's the quality (if you can call it that) that isn't looked for in good mods. =x

And I don't know about Jane. I haven't seen her posts recently enough to decide if she's cut out fori t.

Actually, member input is considered. It's just not a community voting system, per se. Of course we want to get a feel for community feedback, why else would Mona make this thread? wink.gif

Yeah, but (taken from page six of this thread):

Popularity contest ftw

Feels like elementary school elections all over again. XD.gif

QUOTE(iRock cB @ Aug 2 2006, 2:05 PM) *
Eh, I don't know. I don't think it's so much popularity this time although I do think that's a factor. Unfortunately.

Wrong.

QUOTE(I Shot JFK @ Aug 2 2006, 2:08 PM) *
popularity HELPS, though.

QUOTE(I Shot JFK @ Aug 2 2006, 2:11 PM) *
well, if no one knows you, or people (not just mods, i mean the site as a whole) dont like or respect you, you wont get modded. or at least, you shouldnt get modded

QUOTE(marzipan @ Aug 2 2006, 2:11 PM) *
It shouldn't. That's the thing...this shouldn't turn into a popularity contest. They're not hiring based on how popular you are. It's how much you can help out the community.

Although, yes, they wouldn't hire a newbie.

And so on and so forth. I mean, of course the people that like certain others are going to say good things about them due to their relationships and support, even when you ask for honest feedback. And thanks for the input (and support) from everyone. group.gif

^ Kathleen, all I said was the member input was considered. :)

//edited- you'll also, if you read through the thread (and based on your quotes I know you did :) ), see that I keep asking for more than, "she'd/he'd be good."

Oh I know. I like reading the input as well, and I'm glad they say what they say, but what I was getting at was that even when you ask for "input," it'll still be pretty biased. They're not going to support people they don't know.

Well, that goes without saying. You can't really provide input on someone you don't know or recognize. But one would have to ask, if you are so unrecognizable, how truly active and supportive are you to cB? So in my opinion, when there's a *lack*of input, that's considered as well. wink.gif

Sigh... I dont know... I think Robbi would do well, because she has at least ben around, and knows what is going on, what kind of things need cloisng, moving, blahdeblah.

my concern tere is that i havent seen her participate actively in any discussions about what should be done in terms of policy, be it spam, feedback topics, or whatever. which is important. That is what Radhika, Kathleen, Nate and Brenden have which sets them apart from the rest.

and also, for the people who have doubted rachel's activity, she has been out of own for all of july, so that ought to be noted.

Yes, but how about people that don't quickly attach themselves to friends on here, but have obvious potential and presence? Because of their lack of friends, they won't get support or feedback. Then again, this probably more for those applying for Design or something. But still. If one has obvious "beef" (yes, James, I said it) with an applicant, they're not going to be quick to commend said applicant despite their outstanding qualifications and whatnot. This could also be applied when certain groups have something against a member.

Bias is a part of life. :) That shouldn't mean that people should be discouraged from giving input regarding staff applicants.

Well, in that case, I believe forza (aka Marco) should apply for People Staff. Why? He's funny, knows how to connect with the members, is active, and he doesn't seem like the power-hungry, psycho mod type. He's easygoing, but he knows where to draw the line. If anything, I'm surprised he didn't apply.
forza for staff. (teehee, that was a bilingual pun.) mellow.gif okay, i'll stop now.

I've seen him in Debate and in the World Cup thread often. I may have elsewhere, but just didn't take note of it. I don't know him that well, but from what I've seen, I have no qualms with him.

I know who he is! Jesus does as well. I agree with you, Radhika. Although he really hasn't been active lately. I don't know where he is.

Edit // Jesus beat me to it. sad.gif
