Make this thread helpful for the mods.

Mods are members, also. So member bashing is not allowed, as always. Don't make it a personal vendetta, please. Keep the bashing at 0%, please.

Any moderator has the right to close and unpin this thread at the signs of bashing, pointlessness, and/or any other guideline breaker.

I do hope this works out. I want to stress that this is not the place for personal attacks. If you really have to, keep it in the PM system between you and the mod. This thread is here to help mods work better with members.

Yes, you are right. (except the last one looks fine) but like I said you have to learn.

Moderator at another forum? No...? It's called being around, alert, and observant. That's how all the good moderators in the past have learned.

^ Not all, only some. I know many mods who had to ask for help and learn before they knew exactly what they were doing.
But you know what, its your opinion.
Krista is learning, and even if you dont like her, Mona and Kiera obviously saw potential in her, if they didnt think she would make a good mod, she wouldnt be on staff.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's a shame you think that of me.
I haven't been as active as I would like to be lately because of offline obligations, but I assure you that I do know how to do my job and of all people you should know that mod actions and responsibilties go further then just closing topics and such.

If I think someone needs to be warned, I will warn them.
If I think someone is being unfair then I will tell them.
And Yes, I think you are being unfair. Pretty quick to jump to conclusions about people. Anyone can nit-pick and bring out the flaws of every single moderator. That is the easy part.

A regular member? Well I guess you would say that.
Though, we never post in the same areas as each other usually, you never see the work i do behind the scenes or anything, but i don't think you would take that into consideration.
You never liked me, but honestly I never have liked you either. Your entire post was just dripping with disdain. I highly disagree with your comment about being a "pushover". Would it make you happy, dear Anna, if I was a little more blunt like you and called other members "bitches"? I'm sorry, i'm not that kind of person. It is very obvious you do not know the kind of person I am, but whatever. Your opinion.
I just don't appreciate any of this at all.
And yes, you are allowed to say what you want about mods and members or whoever you want, but one day you might want to truly think about the bitterness you spew out. Sometimes it doesn't exactly help the situation. You are a smart girl, you don't have to make the situation any worse then it already is.



And Kathleen....sigh. All I will say is that I disagree with your comment about Julia. She was a great mod. And I know you have been here forever and are popular and what not, but still....was that really necessary. No. I've seen your posts around here lately, and they have been getting meaner and meaner. When members PM me about being hurt about one of your comments that doesn't exactly settle me with me. I'm asking you to tone it down a bit. You have the right to express your opinions and what not, but same with anna, really think about what you say before you post it. Sometimes it just really hurts people and makes the situation worse.

I agree. I've seen her in both the design and community forums. Probably one of the best on the staff recently.

TOYA is awesome. She's always doing her job. I can never get through the Help forums because she's always, like, BAM she's there. She's really helpful and courteous, as well.

DANI is superb. Very damn good at her job.

JESUS, you've been doing well. A fine example of someone who has observed moderator actions and has caught on the second you were promoted. If you compare Jesus and Krista in terms of how new they are, Jesus (you) have done so well.

KRISTINA should be Head Staff or something. She's so active in both the Resource and Community Centers. Granted, I think she's one of the moderators that hate me, but she's very good at her job.

KIERA, although she hasn't been active as much, has always seemed to be a very impartial, unbiased administrator.

Okkkkay. There's wayyyy too many pages of this stuff, I don't feel like reading every single post so please don't shoot me (or slap your monitor) for sharing my opinion anyway and possibly repeating something someone else has already said.

Although being a staff member IS a job and they are expected to be somewhat active and report to their duties, they are suppossed to have fun and interact as members do. And just because you don't see them contributing to the forums, doesn't mean that they're not active or contributing backstage or other duties that go on behind that scenes such as approving/rejecting skins/scripts, etc. Sometimes, we hire certain people just because they have a positive energy about them, and we feel that we can use that on our team. (Haha, I say "we" like I have anything to do with it. I am a has-been, lol.)

Regular members can't really know for sure how much a staff member contributes which is why staff members are sensitive and are easily offended when regular members criticize their performance.

But that doesn't mean that all staff members are giving satisfactory performance.

I can understand that people get busy and that they find less and less time to be active at cB. It happenned to me as an admin. I actually stepped down because I knew that I wouldn't be able to return and be as active as I once was or was expected to be. Anyone who's currently on staff who is experiencing the same I suggest to step down, especially if you're not sure if you'll be able to return and contribute as before. I think that is the concern of some of our members which is perfectly understandable. But then there are those whose heart is still in it, but they just don't currently have as much time to help but they feel that as soon as their schedule lets up which it will, they'll be able to return and be more active. This I can understand, and as long as the staff member knows that they'll be able to contribute in the near future, then I don't see anything wrong with taking a brief hiatus or just not being as active for a little while. We all have things to do and not everyone has as much free time as others.

I think we all just need to lighten up a little. Staff members, don't be so offended when people share their opinions about your performance. After all, this is a moderator performance thread. Just take the advice, or explain yourself if you'd like but without expressing anger. Regular members, understand that staff members are regular people too, with busy schedules or a lot of other things going on, and they can't be expected to be the top notch staff member all the time. In fact, they're not even expected to be active ALL the time, that is why we have so many moderators on our team.


This post probably isn't even all that useful. I kind of wrote it while I doing several other things at the same time so forgive me if it doesn't even make all that much sense or has no relevance. Oh well.

Well, of course it does; any amount of modding gives anyone insight and experience, I just don't think you should be using it against Mona like that. I mean, she's Admin too. She's had the same sort of experience.

Well I'm sorry to you and Mona - I didn't mean to use it against her or anything. I just felt it was unfair that they were going to pick way new people that don't know the ins and outs of createBlog. See, the thing that upsets me about this thread is the fact that it will be assumed that everything that is being said is being taken personally.

I accept that what i said to Julia was out of line, and i apologize if i upset her. but that doesnt alter the fact that we DO need changes around here, and that there are gaping flaws in the moderator team. i dont want to get into this, because i personall ythink anna and kathleen have done that job, but i would like to say for the record that i full support EVERYTHINg that they have said, positive and negative. and yes, i read every word of the last three pages.

the thing that frustrates me is that this thread will probably be the reason why kathleen wont be modded. which is a damn shame, and involves a LOT of missing the point.
