mellow.gif the thread was about oral sex with blood. i was stating something. don't mods have to monitor the threads for anything breaking the rules? we're supposed to keep it pg-13. i was a bit iffy about that.

As a mod, you should be decisive about it and close the topic if you deem it inappropriate rather than just stating some useless information that does not contribute to the topic. stubborn.gif

^2x Well since she is new, She wasnt sure, so she stated and waited to see if a mod confirmed it was or not.
Make sense?
Being a mod you have to learn whats acceptable and whats not before making decisions

There is no harm in not knowing what to do in one little situation.
beside, read the post below me and she stated her reasoning... K?

I was stating that to kind of hint that they should keep it pg-13. i was going to let it slide for that moment and see what would happen.

And you would know that because you've been able to see backstage for how long? We don't shit talk about anyone, at least it doesn't happen anymore. If we talk about a member, it's about how difficult he/she is or how exactly to punish him/her for his/her actions. Is it such a big problem if mods have a topic to socialize? And there is actual discussion involved many times, but of course you would know that.

There is a reason why each person is modded. There are objections by mods to each candidate, whether it be activity issues, atitude problems, etc. If there is a general consensus that someone shouldn't be modded, then they aren't. Besides modding efficiently and decisively (the latter often requires experience), we have to look at those who are friendly. I can think of a few people who are generally good members, are active, and would be able to mod efficently but what they lack is proper attitude. I don't look at whether or not I have a personal grudge against someone.

If people question how cB is run, would posts like yours be more effective or would trying to get Backstage be better?

Kiera and I have both discussed each mods' activities. That's why more people have been stepping down as of late. We ask him/her to step down. Sammi has activity issues and Kiera has already PMed her. She actively participates in major discussions which is why we decided to give her another chance. Of course, we're both keeping an eye on her for any improvements.

The staff is elitist all the time, you say? Do you know some of well enough to say that? Sure, you can usually tell what a person is like from how they post, but it isn't always accurate.

If you were referring to me about the last paragraph, I didn't say that the cB revolution was petty or that the by-laws were a waste of time. The cB revolution actually produced something good after all that drama and the by-laws didn't continue as I hoped, but I don't think it was a complete waste of time.

omg. You should already know what your responsibilities are when you take modding. Isn't that why you mod people? It isn't a learn-on-the-job sort of thing; it's more of a prerequisite to already know what to do.

Also, those posts are borderline spam? Okay, sure, think what you want. Everyone has their own ideas of what spam is, really.

And there lies most of the problem with spam. It shouldn't be that way. You guys need to have a specific set of rules on spam that all of you understand and follow. It gets confusing when mods each have their own definition of spam. We never know what's spam and what isn't. Some people spam on accident and never know.

But, anyway, we've had this discussion and we got the rules on spam changed, so we'll just have to see if it works. happy.gif

Do you and Anna both meet requirements? We don't just look at the person and say, 'Oh, I don't like her so we won't mod her.' We discuss it, so yes, you would be given the same chance to be promoted.. that is, unless someone argues against you.

We do hold someone's actions against him/her, but I'm not being specific to anyone. Oh, as well as how you carry yourself around the forums.

To be honest, Kiera and I started discussing mods' activity issues long before you brought up any names.

Oh tsk tsk, Kathleen, there's no need to shout. wink.gif

Having said that, while discussion of moderator perfomance, if you can call it that (I'd be more apt to refer to this as a bunch of mud slinging, but that's just me - irritable, tired and was just rear ended 5 days after moving into a new town. But I digress), can be productive, this conversation needs to be moved to the moderator perfomance thread.

Although, before I head downstairs to put dinner in the oven really quick, I would like to say that the comment regarding elitism in staff is both narrow minded and unfair. It's not that I don't respect your opinion, it's that I don't see anything to back up that statement. I really don't. Personally, I'm a 30 year old single mom and more than anything I'm described as a very humble person. Also, and I beg your pardon here, don't confuse being succint (which I obviously lack as a talent) with being elitist. I'm not saying you are, but it is a very common misconception, especially when communicating via the internet.

I do all except for the activity-for-at-least-2-months deal. _smile.gif In which case, if you read my application, I justify myself. As ADMINISTRATOR, I was active A LOT. Heck, that's probably why I got promoted from Xanga to People to Head to Admin so quickly. I like how you guys don't inquire about actual cB history. rolleyes.gif You guys want to pick people who are docile and submissive - those that have no opinions whatsoever. I remember when moderators were memorable. When they had personalities. When they were loved and adored. I guess those days are gone forever.

Not many regular members actually have anything useful that would help us. Mods usually make the same observations as members do, but I often see members nominating for their friends. One other thing is if each mod has a somewhat different relationship to a certain candidate, we share the experiences, whether or not it favors the applicant.

I wasn't referring to you, per se, because I actually like you, but take a look at that conversational topic backstage. Let me know that it's not elitist simply because it's exclusive to only mods. Tell me that the mods don't talk about members and speculate if not just falsely claim shit because said member is not there to speak for themselves. Because I know that all of that happens.
