If spam is such an issue, why aren't the "I Lost/Won/Found/Fcuked" threads moved to the Sandbox? Why are they even still in existence? Or all the "What are you Listening to/reading/wearing/watching/fcuking Now?" threads? THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT LIVE THERE. I don't get it. There is NO conversing that goes on in those threads?

They provoke no thought whatsoever and people post there every other post.

if people are posting every other post and spamming, they're the ones causing spam. the thread itself wasn't intended for spamming.

POINTLESS THREADS
Random topics that no one will be able to reply to in a productive manner or discuss will be closed. This includes topics like 'I'm bored', "Look at my pics", "Do u love me", topics whose sole intent is to insult someone. These forums are for discussion, not attention seeking.

This is from Forum Rules.

No, but it leaves a LOVELY-ASS WINDOW for it. Besides, I don't see any of those people verbally warned. Someone not doing their job much?

^ They arent warned, perhaps because the topic is for them to post what they are listening to.
If the song they were listening to changes, they have the right to post again (as long as they dont double post)
That is was the topic is made for, no?

And to go with the whole "Pointless thread" rule.
1, you can discuss the music people are listening to if you'd like.
2, its not attention seeking
3, Ive actually PMed people who posted in there because they had a good taste in music, like Tracy, and now she is my hostess, so its not completely pointless.

That's not the intention of that thread. Besides, if you want to discuss your favorite band, the "New Topic" button is your friend. _smile.gif Heck, people post topics about entire genres that generates more conversation than those threads. So I see your defense with that one, but what about the ones in the Lounge? rolleyes.gif

Topics don't necessarily need to have discussion going on to exist. I've seen countless threads were there wasn't a real discussion, but if it promotes interaction in the forum not the topic itself, why close it? The topics you mentioned exist all throughout the Community Center: Food, Entertainment, Lounge, etc. Some people do comment back, but I don't see what the big problem is about leaving it there. A lot of people do post in all those topics.

I don't know..it seems like you and James and Anna want a rule for everything. Which is not a bad idea. But it leaves no room for a moderator to use their own mind in certain situations, and it kind of sucks the fun out of the forum. I mean people have been complaining all summer how boring, and strict cB is...and I think that could even get worse with more rules. shrug.gif

I just don't want cB to turn into a tyranny where I have to look at Article 177: Section F - Paragraph 3 before I make a decision.
[/quote]
Rules? huh.gif I'm just talking about deleting or moving these threads. Moreover, what did Anna do? She's not even in this. blink.gif James and I were the ones complaining about Julia's moderating abilities. I'm trying to make this less spam-ish and provoke more thought (as Guy Fawkes would say haha)..

I'm not saying that. Well I guess I sort of am. But it'd be an easy rule! I just hate how people up their post count by living in those threads and nothing productive comes out of it. I'm not expecting philosophical conversations, but just.. regular conversing. Speaking. Talking. Not post, then leave.

if you move them to the sandbox, less people would post in them because they won't be able to increase their post counts anymore.

these threads barely provoke any discussion and honestly, who sits there and reads what other people are listening to all the time? drive by posting is not cool.

I understand what you mean. I think I asked the same question a while ago. shrug.gif There are "What are you ___ right now?" threads in the Sandbox. But I guess "What are you eating/drinking right now?" and "What are you listening to/watching right now?" and "What are you wearing right now?" stay open and in those forums, because they pertain to their particular forums.

However, I do think the "I won" and "I lost" threads could be moved to the Sandbox. When the "What are you doing right now?" thread in the Lounge got to 20 pages, I closed it and started the new topic in the Sandbox becuase I felt that it belonged there.

Yeah, but there are topics in the Lounge and Entertainment that "pertain" to the forum at hand but are still spam-ish and unnecessary.

when you move something to the sandbox, does one's postcount decrease? like if you had posted in "i lost" 100 times, and then that thread got moved to sandbox, do you lose 100 posts?

and i'd like it if the other threads (whatre you eating, watching, listening to) were moved to the sandbox, as well...

Suzzette, I'm sorry, but when did this thread involve 'You, James, and Anna'?
