But cheerleading requires movement in many other areas in your body.
Marching only takes your legs. |

Yes, but I was asking the other person because she made a statement pertaining to only marching and leaving up out the instrument thus ignoring the upper part strength needed to perform.

^ You're right. They don't only use their legs.. They play the instrument with their hands. So yes, they do use their whole body.
She also probably wouldn't know that the entire force of the sound you have to produce comes from your stomach mostly. |

^If that's the case, is playing piano a sport? You do use your arms and legs when playing piano. It could be argued that it's a sport. I've made those points in another thread, I think.. I don't particularly have an opinion on this.. I just think that if cheerleading's a sport, then marching band's a sport too. |

There is absolutely no way playing the piano can be a sport. I've been playing for 11 years, so I'm not just going off on a whim. (And I know you play the piano, and have probably played longer) I don't see why classifying something as a sport is a big deal. It sounds like people think if you label it as a "sport", it makes it better. I think gymnastics is a VERY challenging physical activity (I attempted it when I was younger), it requires so much dedication and tolerance and drive. But I still wouldn't call it a sport. Yeah, I agree with you. I'm not saying it's a sport - I would probably shoot the person who seriously says that it, indeed, is one. I was just trying to say that using the logic many people use, I could argue that playing the piano's a sport. |

I'm pretty in between.
Why it is: Its athletic and competitive, isn't that all there is to it? Why it isn't: No ball, and its just.....band. |
