Now, I'm going to say it one more time. And it will sound like im ass kissing, and it will sound like im sucking up. But I'm saying because it NEEDS to happen, and i have this horrible feeling that it might not.
Make Dani An Admin. Brenden, I'm not exactly sure why you were campaigning for this petition if you agree with me... |

Oh no. Brenden stopped campaigning a petition awhile back on this thread. What he still wants is a group of dedicated members to get together and discuss the issues of Createblog. Something along the lines of that.
Sandra you're killin' me here. |

Sandra you're killin' me here. my mistake. but we tried that idea and it failed. just something to consider. we tried that EXACT thing, and we discussed it, and the forum is still sitting there useless because no one wants to put the results into action, evidently |

That's another thing I pointed out, that we all have different levels of leniency. This is why it's not enough for us to just use common sense when modding, we all think differently. If the members think a particular mod is making WRONG decisions, please call her (sorry Jesus, using "she" for simplicity's sake) out on it. She won't lose her position or get in trouble because she received some negative criticism, but it will at least give her a chance to try to change a few of her habits. I am completely open to criticism. If you think I'm doing something that's not fair or doesn't make sense, I'm okay with that. I would honestly like to know so I can be more conscious of what I need to be changing. Well, that's the idea. Sometimes it doesn't happen and they do get in trouble because that leads to other mods to think the same and instead of fixing what the mod's doing wrong, they just get yelled at, lol. I guess I can't say from a first hand account cause I've never been a mod. If I have a problem with a mod, I would tell them through a PM. It avoids complications. If they don't take it into consideration, then I would probably tell other mods. QUOTE Oh.. nah. I wasn't trying to avoid it by any means. I just wanted to get people to take a different approach to that issue. I suppose you had taken your break from cB at the time that this issue was discussed, but it was several pages of the same thing, and by the end of it, it seemed like we had actually come to a conclusion. But trying to fix that issue doesn't seem to be working, so I figured we might as well not dwell on it. Let's take a different approach to "fixing cB". The majority of it was while I was gone, but I do remember reading over it. What's your idea on it? I've been thinking about it. I think you guys need to discuss it amongst yourselves if you haven't already. We got the spam issue fixed (hopefully, we'll have to see) cause I and a few others brought it up, now lets see if we can work on this. I agree, we do need a different approach. Members and mods have to work together. |

Sometimes, I wonder when the internet will actually become reality because the 'seriousness' is getting out of hand. Fine then, I'll shut up. Continue doing whatever you're doing.

my mistake. but we tried that idea and it failed. just something to consider. we tried that EXACT thing, and we discussed it, and the forum is still sitting there useless because no one wants to put the results into action, evidently I know but I wanted to see if we could get it going again instead of leaving it for dead. Maybe try something a little more interactive instead of just putting up a forum. I'm still trying to figure something out, but that's why I'm here. I need everyone's help. So what do you think we should do, James? We both know it's a problem. And I'm not trying to put you on the spot, I seriously want to know your ideas. You seem to know what you're talking about. And I'd really like any input from mods. They know cB a lot better then I do. I admit my ignorance, haha. I don't know cB like the back of my hand like some people do. ![]() And can i just reinforce that the spam issue isnt 'fixed'. we're trying something, which is good. but it WILL need to be updated at some point, i bet. Agreed. That's why I said hopefully we've fixed it. Now we just have to see how it goes. Only time will tell. |

Like I said to you earlier Brenden, you could discuss elsewhere and post a topic tackling one issue at a time. We could have that topic allowed in the Lounge where everyone can see it.
You could even get some kind of chatroom going. |

i dont think anything more interactive (a chat, maybe i swhat you were thinking) would be effective, because it would involve getting too many people together at once. someone would miss something, and then we would spend all the time catching people up. A forum is not particularly quick, but it is the easiest way to store all of the conversations, and for people not to have to perpetually play catch up. anything else is a logistical nightmare.
As for what i think... I think we need to accept that there will never be a way to start from the beginning with mods and members having equal say. I think the mods need to come up with a plan to solve each problem entirely free from distraction and complaint. I think that they then need to put that plan into action calmly, efficiently, firmly, and fairly. Then, if there are any noticable problems, the mods should state why it isnt working for them, and the members likewise. By taking it one problem at a time, we can solve things calmly and permanently. We need something to FIX, rather than something to build. That is my view. And i lik ebeing put on the spot. i wish we were having this conversation vocally, though. I do so hate being a slow typer. oh, i know you said hopefully. that i swhy i said reinforce, rather than state because no one else has. |

Yeah, good point. That's why I thought it'd be good to have a group of dedicated members to run the whole thing and keep up with it. Maybe we just need to try a new approach to a forum and make banners and things to get the word out instead of members doing pointless complaining because personally, that really gets on my nerves. I know it irritates the mods as well. Maybe we can even post it in the lounge.QUOTE As for what i think... Right, I feel the same way about issues one by one, but they also need to take members input as well. Unfortunately, a lot of members and moderators don't care. I'm not saying they all don't, but some don't. I thought maybe some dedicated members could be the ones to take in the problems, discuss them, then present that to the mods so they won't have any distractions and be able to discuss it. Truly discuss it. Not just go over it. QUOTE And i lik ebeing put on the spot. i wish we were having this conversation vocally, though. Hmm, maybe we can start something on Skype or some other internet voice chat server. That's interactive and effective. And, like you said, it's a lot easier then typing. I don't have a mic but I could buy one. It could be like a cB customer support, haha. I'm not sure. Maybe I'm thinking too much. |

i do agree that pointless whining irks me. Although i think the idea of an offcial group will only build resentment, and accusations of power-hunger, especially with the baners. I get why it ook slike a good idea, and in an ideal world, it would work, i just dont think its viable in the context of cb.
Well, i like your theory of the dedicated members tackling it. but i think the answer is to make those dedicated members the mods, and get rid of the deadweight. i gues we're shooting for teh same thing, but i just dont see the pint of not putting the best people in the position to actually jus tmake decisions, rather than have to present them and hope for the best. skype would be fun. like i said, i dont think it will be the best way overall to go about this, because of logistics, but it would definatel ybe good for coordinating peoplew ith similar ideas. |

The small paragraphs idea may work seeing as we have new members willing to discuss issues. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try though as long as it's not made into a big production because it will eventually die out and people will lose interest.
The by-laws is really all a jumble. I, myself, don't see how we should have to stick to each rule like glue. Certain things like warnings and suspensions are fine, but the number of mods and requirements for modship change due to circumstances. And it will since we won't exactly be always using nominations to hire new mods. Since then, the by-laws mods have sort of disintegrated, but all that is left is to include what has been finalized and have it formally written. |

Mmm. I see teh arguments fo rthe paragraph idea, i really do, i just seem to lack the faith that it will work. also, each person posting their own paragraphs isnt discussion... it wouldnt really help...
The problems with the bylaws are, i think insurmountable. And the reason why mods SHOULD stick to rule slike glue, is that it will dispell the power hungry calls. the only way not to appear to be biased is to treat everyone exactly the same. and a structured set of rules will help. and how do the requirements for mods change? |

Requirements such as "no endorsements will be required." We've long gone over the idea that the endorsements were not a great idea. The other thing was that all applicants must be an offical member or designer. Kiera and I are willing to allow non-official members. We probably won't encounter someone in this situation but it's nice to keep all the possibilities open. Other than that, we can stick to them like glue.

oh. i thought you meant like, characteristic type requrements. carry on.
speaking of which, if i can give advice, i would say have a hiring sooner rather than later. because if we dont get some of the better members on staff soon, they will be driven away by th echaos, which i only going to perpetuate the problem. lol. what do i mean, 'if i can give advice'. what i mean is, im giving advice, take it or leave it, preferably the former |
