So NOFX got me thinking.. there's been numerous topics devoted to how great a band is and that you should listen to them, but what about bands we should watch out for?

Yeah, that's why I made a MySpace group called Rock is Life, dedicated to talking about your favorite bands and upcoming bands to look for. I really try to focus on that.

But yeah, I agree. We should support the indies!

Does it really matter if they suck live...?
It won't matter to me since I most likely won't see anything live as I'm afraid of large crowds of people I don't know ph34r.gif

It matters to me. mellow.gif I want to know if the band I listen to on the CD is worth supporting. I mean it's not fair to the fans if the album they listen to sounds like it does mostly because of fancy pants technology.. Besides, it's just a topic..

um Matchbook Romance and Hawthorne Heights are really good live. The hush sound has a really good sound and their performances arent really exciting but the music makes up for that.. the "Indie" genre is supposed to be like underground, soft sounding blah blah blah but nowadays their all mainstream, u see Panic!, Maroon 5, Gym Class heroes all of them on MTV or Fuse so I dont know how the Indie scene is still going on but w.e Im really into old school punk rock- The ramones, The Clash, blondie etc

SOAD is actually pretty good. Korn sucks live, but its not like a lot of people care for them anyway.

really? I though they were pretty good. From First to Last... very bad. Not exactly my style of music anyway, but still I thought the main singer was having a seizure onstage.

Escape from Earth and Eyes are Round. These two bands aren't that great live. The bassist from Eyes are Round is probably the best band member, yet his talent is not fully utilized. It is hard to hear all the intricacies that thier records may contain live, but the live performance is not very promising. Neither have a good stage presense or a good ability to communicate to the audience.

I was at WalMart sporting my All-American Rejects shirt from the Black Clouds and Underdogs tour when the cashier asked me if I had been to the concert. I nodded and she had said that she loved Hawthorne Heights until she saw them live. I kind of agree. I mean, their CDs are cool, but one I saw them live..I kind of lost interest. It was like watching a merry-go-round on stage. Everything repeats itself and all of their music sounds the same live.

some good bands that people might know about that i've seen live are "The Killing Moon"(although i saw em when they were "animal suit driveby"), Chiodos, Grace Gale, The Blackout Pact(they sucked live), Greeley Estates(they sucked live), As I lay Dying, Atreyu, Story of the Year, Deftones(they sucked live), and i've seen like 230948 other bands, but yeah alot of stuff is done when in the mixing/production stages of making a cd and they make em sound better.
