i`m tryin do the same thing . .
& i`m just guessing cause i think ive seen this before
but, i think the image has to be a specific format.

.ani or .cur . You can make those type files with iconart. There are two tutorials on it here. I wrote one for text cursors, mike(mikestah) wrote one for images.
