Do you have suggestions, complaints, or compliments as to how the moderator staff is performing? Voice your opinions here.

Make this thread helpful for the mods.

Mods are members, also. So member bashing is not allowed, as always. Don't make it a personal vendetta, please. Keep the bashing at 0%, please.

Any moderator has the right to close and unpin this thread at the signs of bashing, pointlessness, and/or any other guideline breaker.

I do hope this works out. I want to stress that this is not the place for personal attacks. If you really have to, keep it in the PM system between you and the mod. This thread is here to help mods work better with members.

So...your thoughts?

EDIT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

To avoid redundancy and to leave room for valid comments, posts consist of concerns/suggestions that have been addressed will be deleted. Please do not post something someone already brought up because your post will be considered as spam. The only exception to this rule is compliments.

Also, please do not make this thread into a full scale discussion. Its main purpose is for members to evalute moderator performance. If your question/concern has been answer, cease to post here until you have another concern. Thank you.

that's the thing, there is no rule.

your post didn't make sense because all you said was how did all these club topics come up? well, people hit new topic and submit it. it doesn't go through a que so it automatically shows up. that's not the mods fault, nor can they do anything about it. it's going to happen, hence the "close topic" option.

I think Julia's been doing wonderfully with her mod responsibilities. Lately there's been a rash of spam topics popping up. It's nice that she helps keep it all clean and tidy.

Mona, i knew she would have to start at the bottom, that's what i meant. i was actually kidding, but if you're inclinded to be reasonable about it, i'll get her to apply. oh, and understanding the random appointments now.

now that christina is gone (shame but needed, really), may i make the recommendation that dani is promoted to admin, and rebecca is promoted to head staff? well, actually, i know perfectly well that i can make the recommendation, but what i mean is, do that!

About the clubs..

Yes, they were closed, but I will make mention that there was a discussion about this backstage recently and the general consensus was that they are harmless fun and do help promote activity. So we let them start resurfacing. If they aren't just absolutely pointless clubs (I agree that maybe the STD haters club was a bit if not a lot pointless), I don't see anything wrong with them.

That said, let it be known that this is not a ticket to start a huge mess of clubs. If any moderator feels that a club is pointless, it will be closed. This wasn't going to be mentioned publicly, but it's been brought up so many times by the members that I don't want you guys to think we're just scared to close them. From what I've seen, if you're starting a club in the Lounge, it's probably not a good idea. The clubs in all the subforums work so well because they actually have a focus. Now again, that's not to say every subforum needs a club - I mean come on, do we really need a food club or a tech savvy club? Don't start a club just because you want your own club.. Seriously, it's not a social status and it's not amusing. However, I like the idea behind clubs - having a place to talk to like-minded people about something you're interested in. Sure, you could have an official thread for that subject, but when it's a club you all sort of get to know each other better. Just my take. _smile.gif

And thanks for that vote of confidence, James. :P

Just for the record, we are in no rush for promoting anyone to an admin position in the near furture, me and Mona have already talked about that. And Head Staff promotions will happen soon enough.

i am no longer on staff because i don't think i'm active enough.

i didn't think it was right to take up a slot on the moderating team when i would be taking an indefinete break from cB.

the reason i will not be a good mod now is because that break is about to resume. School starts, unfortunately.

School's about to start for me, too, and as you know I have it all planned out. devil.gif

Kidding, but still. Everyone's gonna be busy. Just promise you'll consider it if you realize during the school year that you have more time than expected?

I guess I'm kind of interjecting here, but I want to know why Holly closed this topic. She didn't give a reason for doing so. Moreover, if it was simply due to the lack of the layout, I'd like to see where in any set of rules here it states that if one posts a layout of "bad quality," the topic will thus be closed. Besides, I thought cB was supposed to help people, not shun them when they clearly need it. I know he's my friend and all, but still.. even Jesus was puzzled when I asked if he could tell me why else it would be closed. There's an example for you.
