I think what she means is that certain serious active members should get togeather and have ideas about what they want based on their ideas and the ideas of other members and sign petitions. Then, once they have enough signatures, they present that to the mods and if the mods see enough support, they'll consider it. Okay,I really get it now. I like the idea. I do...but..i'm a "the-glass-is-half-empty person" and I think something could go wrong. What exactly? Im not sure but, -sigh- I can't explain myself. What would the petition state? You shouldn't ask for signatures, but rather short paragraphs based on what they want about spam and whatever else. |

I always thought that that's what the Feedback and By-Laws forums were for. Though, I never really went there that much. I guess the thing is those places don't really get that much attention from regular members. The petition idea does sound interesting though. |

Nah, I wasn't talking about you guys. I'm referring to some other members, but I might be wrong about them. Also, is the forum rules thread the ONLY thread on here that has a definition of spam(a poor one, at that)? If that's the case, then this'll just be a matter of updating the thread with more specifics and detail. Right. One that all mods agree on, understand, and have to follow. That'll get rid of the confusion and the various opinions and definitions of what spam really is. |

I found something about spamming in the community guidelines..It is a bit more specific than the Forum rules
POINTLESS POSTS To enhance the experience of these forums, please do not post just for the sake of posts counts. We care more about what you say than how many times you can hit the "add reply" button. Spamming is a BIG no-no here. This includes double posting (posting two or more posts in a row), repeated posts (even in different threads), and anything unrelevant to the topic at hand. |

The community rules should apply to all of the forums, with a few exceptions. I suppose the rules in each forum are just a heads up and specific rules about certain forums.
Though I can see how you might want the definition of spam updated. |

I think instead of signatures..you should ask for small paragraphs stating what they, the person, want in terms of rules about spamming and such?

I guess the thing is those places don't really get that much attention from regular members. The petition idea does sound interesting though. Yeah, they really don't. It's a shame. :\ But I think this will be more of a "hands on" interaction rather then just posting about it. QUOTE You shouldn't ask for signatures, but rather short paragraphs based on what they want about spam and whatever else. Ohhh, I like that idea. Gives more meaning and understanding. QUOTE should i post a topic asking people if they wanna be part of the little "committee?" yeah! That sounds good. Thanks! :) Do you think the mods will be OK with this though? I think it'll be a way for us to help each other out.

Yes, that should work.
:] But there still should be some way of advertising (gah..even if it is against the forum rules i guess) the petition so it gets around to people who really care about the community. Brenden, you should be my partner-in-crime. hah. |

Brenden, you should be my partner-in-crime. hah. Haha, I'd be honored. You mean like banners and such? I don't think it's against the rules if it benifits the community. I think what they mean by advertising is links to other sites and products and stuff. |

![]() This is good advertising. GAH NO SIGNING OF PETITION! SHORT PARAGRAPHS. MORE MEANING. I think a lot of people who just got warned about this would. Or those who are just plain out confused. Like me. |

I really like how the community actually does want to improve Createblog.
I suppose the Lounge gets the most attention, I'm sure the other mods would agree on keeping a feedback-y thread here since the feedback doesn't really get that much attention. You would be able to advertise the petition by linking on your board signatures. |

Not on the spamming issue, but on the original topic--
I understand that the moderators have been told by Jusun to not be so strict (something along those lines), and they are a lot more lenient now than before. However, it seems that although posting guidelines are supposedly more lax, warning seems to be more rampant (or so this thread says). I haven't seen Kathleen spam, but she does post a lot. Even if you wanted to consider her posts spam, would the quality (or lack thereof) or quantity be on par with the old spam fests on cB? Hardly. If the rules are supposed to be more permissive than before, than the consequence should not, I believe, come more quickly, which it seems is the case now. Mods used to be hesitant to even give out verbal warnings, but now they don't even give them out? .... I'll let that speak for itself. Also, someone said early on that everyone should be modded, and they were clearly just joking around. However, I know that some members have had issues with the moderating team as a whole--hell, I was one of them, and may possibly still be. Ultimately, the problem is that it's the same general group of people holding power. Yes, I understand that under the new bylaws, the new moderator hiring process supposedly (finally) includes input from the community, but what it boils down to is that it's still the headstaff and administrators choosing. Out of those top moderators, how many of them are in touch with members outside of the actual forums? I know it's not a requirement, but it does make for better morale, right? How many of them will go and chat up with newer or lesser known members? Again, it's not required, but it would sure as hell make the mods seem to be less elitist to the community, on both counts. Because there does exist a backstage that is there for organizational purposes, the moderators grow closer to each other and due to that, sometimes (especially in the past) form pockets of regular members who are unhappy with the decision making (namely hiring). btw, I suck at putting my thoughts into words when I'm tired so don't hold it against me. ;_; I think what she means is that certain serious active members should get togeather and have ideas about what they want based on their ideas and the ideas of other members and sign petitions. Then, once they have enough signatures, they present that to the mods and if the mods see enough support, they'll consider it. Um.. bylaws? ._.edit - Aw, fuck my post was on the bottom of the page. *sad* |
