Uh, Long Island is pretty expensive to live in; but so is the city I suppose.
The outer boroughs are cheaper, I believe.
I don't beleive the thing about the heart attack.
And, there is no tax on clothing or shoes under $110 (or something like that).

yea i do live in long island ...thats what i should have specifically said earlier . we moved 2 years ago from nassau county which i spent my whole life in , sold that 40` 18 suburban cape house for almost 500k . imagine that small of house ,i would guess because we live right in the border of new york city .since that 2 yrs we moved to a development in suffolk with that money invested . and since then i wouldnt be any more happier . our house is humongous now with a pool . only thing before then is we moved when it was my senior year sad.gif which totally sucked ....and it was way way farther to the city like a 40 minute drive....no more 15 stops to take the subway of jamaica ermm.gif ....and NOW sacramento ??! .... cry.gif cry.gif were guessing the time we sell this house now we would have almost invest in 1 + mill .

Parts of NY are cheaper than others.
I live in Queens, where its okay. We bought our house at an original 300kish, but prices for houses in my area have doubled since then.

In Long Island, a million dollars will get you a huge house with seemingly unlimited space, possibly with a waterview.
In Manhattan, a million dollars will get you a condo with no space and a balcony overlooking a street.

And just for the record, NYC is honestly the greatest city in the world. It can be the scariest (if you're high and alone at night in the city), but it's usually just a blast.

I hear that you are more likely to have a heart attack if you live in New York than anywhere else, they say it has something to do with the chronic noise. shrug.gif

I live in the city, my computer doesn't have a sound card, my parents are asleep, it's 12am, and I'm in complete silence. I don't know why people believe that the city is noisy, I certainly don't think so.

QUOTE(juliar @ Jul 27 2006, 7:03 PM) *
then don't live in the city.
live in queens.
long island is expensive too so what's the point.

& there's not that much smog in new york. that's los angeles or san francisco or whatever.

& there's no tax on clothing anymore! :)

I think the no tax thing only lasts for a year or so sad.gif
Is that true? If so, I'm really going to stock up...as if I'm already not XD.gif

It is damn expensive to live here in the city. I don't drive but I know it must cost a lot for parking and gas. That's why my ex takes a subway to work instead of his car.

yea im starting to understand why people are scared of new york ....because of the hard work ethic it presents to the residents here ..its the atitude....i feel as though its a good thing though ,..it creates high standards for there citizens....but yea .....Sacramento ....i dont wanna move to another boreville if its = / .. and i guess thats why Madonna quoted on the song "New York is not for little pu*sies who scream".
