I had a teacher that had a Myspace until all his students found it. Then he deleted it...

Kids at our school got into major trouble for creating a myspace for one teacher. Stupid administration.

One of my computer teachers said that she used to go surfing for her students and see what all they're posting on their myspace. Then, when she found out that stupid girls were posting naked pictures and phone numbers and such, we had a nice long discussion about internet safety. Joy.

Ah yes, internet safety. One of the school councilors came into class and asked who had a myspace. Pretty much everyone raised their hands except for two kids who you'd expect wouldn't have a myspace.

And then came a nice long lecture about internet safety.

And they always blame it on myspace! There are other places where kids are being eViolated. Chatrooms, internet games, Xanga, bunches of other places.

People just dont have any common sense. Which is pathetic.

^ I agree. It's not exactly Xanga, Myspace, or the game that's causing a child to be raped, etc. It's usually the person's lack of common sense.

Then it seems that even the teachers have lost their common sense.

Unfortunate, really.

^ No joke!

Our school sent a letter to our parents warning them and cautioning them against Myspace.. always MYSPACE. So they went through the internet safety stuff, and after getting our parents alarmed beyond reason, they told them how to find their children's myspaces. Funny thing was, with the steps they provided, you could find them. Haha.. I laughed at that one.

Everyone likes to pick on Myspace since it seems to be the most well known cause of stalking and such.

And there a lot of kids out there under 14 who have a Myspace. Really, the allowed age is 14, so I guess that's a mistake on the kid's part. They end up talking to strangers and you probably know what happends next.

I guess teaching internet safety is good, but there's probably a better way of teaching it, rather than just telling people to avoid Myspace.

Myspace is bad. Don't touch Myspace. Myspace will get you pregnant. Myspace will kill you.

Everyone likes myspace because no one likes to make theirs private. My myspace isn't private. But then again it also says I'm from Ireland and that i'm 1 cm tall, so, go figure. My dad "cleared" my myspace. My mom still hates it that I have one. That woman is crazy.

People need to open there eyes. There is a big thing out there called the internet where even more stalkers lurk around. Not just myspace.

OH MY GOD FINE. I'll get off my soapbox now.

My teachers have had xangas and myspaces, and add us and things. The teachers weren't creepy, they were just really good teachers that all the students liked and got along with. No big deal.

our computer science teacher at our school made xanga.
and his first post was about internet safety.

then at the end of the year my school had a meeting
that parents could go to.. and the flyer said
"summer is coming soon, kids will be bored if their not at camp.
we're having a discussion on how to enforce rules on:
myspace
chatrooms etc."

i thought that was pretty, effing hallarious.

My mom's a teacher.. she and some of her colleagues have myspace. you can't really say it's weird when the people who created this stuff are their age. I mean look at tom.

in any case, as much as you don't want to believe it the internet is a form of public. that the teacher saw their xanga was probably invited. i mean, it's not like you don't put yourself out their to be found. if there is something you don't feel comfortable with everyone reading, there is a private option on those blogs.

basically, some employers do the same thing. they'll search for your myspace/facebook/xanga and get a look at your life.

it's like reference.

My friends English teacher has a myspace, and nearly everyone in their school added him laugh.gif He's a good sport about it though, he comments them regularly and everything. He's that cool, young 'n' hip kinda teacher. He's lead vocalist in a metal band haha.

Anywaaaay, yeah the Xanga blog stalking thing is a little creepy. How weird would it be if a teacher just came up to you and started discussing your e-life with you o_O

That's a bit of invading personal privacy. This is the first time I have ever heard of it.
