This country is loaded with talented Dee Jays who dis-play many levels of technical skills and turntable abilities to please their audience. But there is only one special celebrity Dee Jay that stands out from the rest! He is unique, memorable, and most of all, fun! A multi-talented Dee Jay who has emerged on the regional, national, and global entertainment circuits has created a marketable name for himself that will last forever!

Today the light will shine on The Official Dee Jay For BADBOY Entertainment “DJ Finesse”

Jackson: Man! You’re a hard dude to catch! How are you?

DJ Finesse: Yeah man! I apologize for that but when you’re wearing a lot of hats time is the one thing I never seem to have enough of. I’m doin’ good!

Jackson: How did you get the name Finesse?

DJ Finesse: I got the name in college (URI) Ha! Ha! Listen to this Jackson true story. I was scheduled to do my first college radio show and I didn’t have a performing name for myself so I was pressed for time. I was racking by brains for a name and I couldn’t think of anything. So I jumped in the shower where I always go to think important business. I grabbed a bottle of shampoo and BANG! There it was on the front of the shampoo bottle the brand name “FINESSE”

Jackson: When you reached the age to decide on a career for yourself was music your first choice?

DJ Finesse: Nah! Basketball was my first choice. I played ball in college.

Jackson: Who made a deep impact on your decision to pursue music?

DJ Finesse: My family. But when I was growing up I tried everything. My parents encouraged me to try everything and they supported me in everything I tried. My dad saw it early though. My dad could’ve played pro football but he sacrificed that for the family...for me and my brother.

Jackson: A lot of people in the industry know you as DJ Finesse “The Chosen One”! How did you get “The Chosen One” attached to your name?

DJ Finesse: There are other entertainers in the industry that use the name Finesee. My management team and I wanted to separate me from them so we knew I was one of the most sort out Dee Jays to rock a show so we decided because it’s a fact that I am The Chosen One. I am called DJ Finesse “The Chosen One”.

Jackson: Coming up did you take any music classes?

DJ Finesse: Yeah! I always thought the drums were crazy! What’s funny is that my music teacher made me play the Accordion first! He told me I needed to be able to do two different things with my hands at the same time. My teacher thought I was good with this instrument and tried to convince me to continue. Growing up playing the Accordion is not a good look!

Jackson: Are you a Dee-Jay who entertains or are you an entertainer who Dee-Jays?

DJ Finesse: I think a little bit of both. First and far most I am a Dee Jay all day everyday! I grew up in hip-hop so it’s imbedded in me! So because of me being a Dee Jay that makes me a personality and being a personality gives me character. And we all know that with a flare character like mine I always entertain.

Jackson: Can you name some of the performers who have shared the stage with you during a show?

DJ Finesse: Man! I’ve been on the stage with the likes of Jagged Edge, Funk Master Flux & Angie Martinez from the radio station Hot 97 in NYC, Kid Capri, DJ Whoo Kid, Slick Rick, Special ED, Masta Ace, Nelly, Wesley Snipes, Carl Thomas, Ed Lover & Big Tigg from Power 105.1, Chubb Rock, funny man Jamie Foxx, Mister Cheeks, Ice-T, Dana Dane, Nice-N-Smooth and if you don’t stop me Jackson I can go on and on with names.

Jackson: Ok... Which one of your performances were most challenging?

DJ Finesse: I went on a three (3) city tour in Switzerland (Zurich Bern Basil) It was tough tryin’ to rock the in English when ninety percent of the people spoke German or French! I still killed it! But I’m sure most of them didn’t understand everything I was screaming on the mic!

Jackson: Why is it important to you to have representation?

DJ Finesse: Because I can never be the bad guy. First of all it’s their job to handle all business matters, negotiations, contact disputes, bookings and everything else that they do! This allows me to just focus on being the artist that I am.

Jackson: Back in 2001-02 what role did you play with the two BET music shows “Rap City The Basement” and “106 and Park”?

DJ Finesse: Let me tell you that Rap City and 106 and Park all started with the Hip-Hop Legend “Special ED”. We were performing together at a night club and Special ED liked the way I rocked the crowd. (I was on point that night!) Not long after Special ED was asked to shoot 106 and Park and he asked me to be the Dee Jay for his performance on “Old School Friday”. ED’s show is still crazy! He set up “Rap City” while we were there! I was the guest Dee Jay for Big Tigg and after those two shows aired....it was on and poppin’ no joke!

Jackson: You are working with one of the biggest music moguls in the world. Someone who is well known through out the entertainment industry and very powerful too! My question is with all the professional Dee Jays in the country and with all the high profile Dee Jays in New York City alone how were you able to become Sean “Puffy” Comb’s Dee Jay for Bad Boy Entertainment?

DJ Finesse: The answer is simple! Hard, hard, hard work with a non-stop grind attitude! I always went to The BadBoy’s office to meet up with Hen Roc. He always made sure I had everything I needed. One time while I was there I hooked up with Sara Stokes from “Da Band” and we did a CD together. Jasin Wiley (Da Band’s manager on the show) heard the CD and started talking about me to the Top Doggs on their staff. So when Hen got promoted, Rich Dollaz took his spot and he held me down too!

Jackson: In 2005 you were cast in the new Mario Van Peebles movie called “Hard Luck” starring Wesley Snipes, Sybil Sheppard, and Bill Cob. How did this come about and can you tell me about your character?

DJ Finesse: I thank God for my accomplishments first and foremost. Without Him none of this would be possible! When you have a brand name like “BADBOY” attached to you, opportunities come that you couldn’t imagine. They were shooting the movie in Rhode Island and there was a part for a Dee Jay. A friend of mine by the name Jackie Henderson has a dance group called “Off The Curb” in the movie and they asked her about a Dee Jay and she told them about me! They had heard of me and wanted me for the role.

Jackson: When will this movie be shown in the theatres?

DJ Finesse: I believe it will come out in August-September, 2006 It’s an Indy’s film creating a lot of buzzz!

Jackson: I understand you are managing a new artist from San Francisco, California by the name of H2O. What can you tell me about him?

DJ Finesse: Jackson...All I can say is H2 is the truth! But you know what....I’m gonna say more! I have to! I know everyone says that their artist is the best at this, that and the other! You have to understand that I didn’t look for this dude. He lives on the other side of the country! California! I never thought my first artist would be from the west coast. Not because of that east coast/west coast bull. I’m not out there like that! But I met H2O through a cab driver in Los Vegas! Now that’s crazy! All I have to say is H2 is going to literally change the face of Hip-Hop! You’ll see!

Jackson: You actually believe that your artist can change the face of Rap as we know it....How is that?

DJ Finesse: Man this dude is going to make rap music appealing again to be an Emcee without dumbing it down! AND...he will do it on commercial radio which we don’t hear anymore! We all know that radio is flooded with a lot of mediocre music at best! Everyone sounds the same, talks about the same things, uses the same production, looking for the same sound. Come on man! Give me a break! Bvack in the day there was a term for that, “BITING”!! It’S been twenty (20) years since Hip-Hop was real good! Artist stood for something back then. We had movements! Now the movement is commercialism and we ain’t with that! H2O is my favorite Emcee besides Lupe Fiasco. I can say that because Lupe is his favorite Emcee! Bottom line Jackson H2O is HOT! This Kid is on FIRE! With the “Black Eyed Peas” behind him amd me as his manager, it’s gonna be a real good 2K6-2K7!!!

Jackson: I heard him do his thing! I truly believe he will give who ever is on the top of the billboards a run for their money!

DJ Finesse: True That!

Jackson: I’m sure you have heard of a Rap Artist coming out of Brooklyn who goes by the name John Sportin’ “The New Rhyme Slinger! As you know he has a sound like the late great Biggie Smalls. I understand that he wants to do a song with your artist H2O. What are the chances of this happening?

DJ Finesse: We are willing to do collaborations with who ever wants as long as they are serious about their craft and they bring it! We try not to do the MP3 thing. MP3's are good but they make artist lazy! We come to your hood and get it done. We only MP3 if we have to. When we did AZ in New Jersey, Donna Black in CT, Dre Robinson in MA, Nucci Reyo in NJ, Pitch Black in NYC, Young Nik, and Larry Cheeba in Worchester H2 flew from Cali to get it done. We’re bringing back artist doin’ real collabos! So to answer your question. Lets get John Sportin’ collabo done!

Jackson: DJ Finesse I know you have to run! It was a pleasure man!
