Okay so I've had my period for like a little over 3 years now, and I get it SO randomly. It's stupid. I'll get it twice a month sometimes, or I'll go half a year without one. But when I do get it I get bad mood swings and terrible cramps. I've read places that eating, playing sports, whatever all that can change it, but I've been doing pretty much the SAME stuff for this time.. I eat normally, and I cheerlead, but my periods ALWAYSSS been irregular and when I am on it, I'm in pain. WTF am I (well my body..) stupid or something?

no no, your body isn't stupid or anything. and you're obviously not pregnant because you say if this has been the case for a while now.. well you probably would've gave birth or found out lol.

but irregular periods are common so don't worry. i know people who can not have it for months and they're not pregnant, and it's totally random when they get it.

and to prevent irregularity, or just basically to get into the flow of getting it at the same time every month (within the same week at least) you should most def. go on birth control. (not for sexual activity reasons in your case, but if that's the case, too, then go ahead) but it will help you regulate your period. i don't know if you know the drill, but basically you just take the pill every single day, recommended at the same time everyday (within the same hour, doesn't have to be the exact minute, or whatever). but once you get to the last row of pills (there's 4 rows) that last row is usually a different color (not white, some brands may be different, ie. yellow, etc.) that's the week you get your period. those pills contain no hormones, it's just recommended that you take it so you get in the habbit of taking it everyday.

the pill does have side effects to it though, you may get nauseous, but people rarely vomit i've heard. but it reduces your cramping, and it usually makes your periods lighter. but once your body gets used to the pills the side effects will go away.

if you go on the pill and become sexualy active, or already are, the pills won't prevent pregnancy the first week you're on the pill (meaning, still use a condom!) but they to use it anways to prevent STDs, but this is about your period, so don't worry about that. lol.

hope that helps! :)

you can pick up birth control pills at clinics or at your doctor, they usually give 3months dosages at a time. wink.gif

Yes, I deal with the same thing too. I'm almost 16 and still am not regular after 3 years of having it. It's nothing to be scared about and after time it will eventually happen more regularly. like ^ said you can get birth control that might help it.

my sister has a thyroud problem and has extremely
irregular periods. You may have a thyroid problem.
I have a friend who gets her period once a year.
Yeah, totally bizarre. blink.gif

i'd see a doctor before you try any of the advice we're giving you.
you SHOULD NOT take birth control before you talk to your doctor, and that's that.
people can have reactions to birth control, or it can clash with other things you may be taking so just... talk to your doctor first.

personally, i'd like to have my period only once a year, haha.
it's so better than what my mom had.
her period WOULDN'T stop... imagine that.
