A memory just ran through my head of childhood songs I used to learn in Sunday school. I know that this song has a message, but in retrospect the lyrics seem... I do I put this? Slightly off....
QUOTE I just want to be a sheep, Baa, Baa, Baa, Baa, I just want to be a sheep, Baa, Baa, Baa, Baa, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, I just want to be a sheep, Baa, Baa, Baa, Baa. I don't want to be a Pharisee, I don't want to be a Pharisee, Cause they're not fair, you see. I don't want to be a Pharisee. I don't want to be a Sadducee, I don't want to be a Sadducee, Cause they're so sad, you see. I don't want to be a Sadducee. Here is one my grandmother used to sing to me. It deeply disturbed me for a long time. QUOTE Oh, don't you remember, a long time ago, Those two little babies, their names I don't know They were stolen away one bright, summer's day And left in a wood, so I've heard folks say. Pretty babes in the wood Pretty babes in the wood Oh, don't you remember Those babes in the wood Now the day being gone and the night coming on Those two little babies sat under a stone They sobbed and they sighed, they sat there and cried Those two little babies they laid down and died Now the robins so red, how swiftly they sped They put out their wide wings and over them spread And all the day long on the branches they throng They sweetly did whistle and this was their song That's one fucked up thing to sing to a five year old. Do you remember any childhood songs? Did they have any effect on you? |

I guess it was because....my grandmother was a yankee? I honestly don't have any excuse for her. She didn't ever like me when I was growing up. (This is my grandmother on my father's side.) I haven't seen her in almost ten years, but she did a lot of things that were "off".

I forgot the first line, but the others were:
One night as I lay down sleeping my sister by my side. I heard a voice from heaven saying my mother died. So children obey your mother. Obey them faithfully. For if you lose your mother you lose the best of all. Yeah, my mom sang that to me lots of times. |

Dandansoy ,my dad used to sing this everynight .
Dandansoy inom tuba, Laloy; Dili ako inom tuba pait aslom. Ang tuba sa baybay, patente moangay; Talaksan nga dyutay, puno ang malaway. Translation: Dandansoy, drink some tuba, Buddy; No, I won't drink at all, tuba is bitter-sour. Tuba sold on the shore ought to get a patent, For a little glass of it will make you drool. |

oh this also reminds of a conan episode w/ colbert guy and he got up and started singing chruch songs lol I just saw that one the other day. Good episode. My dad used to sing to me all the time.. he wrote music and played the guitar, so it was always something different. Sometimes he'd just be playing and making words and melody up as he went along. I remember he'd always do it to get my brother and I to fall asleep, but it didn't work on me because I didn't want to miss anything. I like to say that by doing that he taught me how to sing. ![]() |

The only song I remeber is one that my dad used to sing to me before I went to sleep. I think it was called "Vera Jacka" ( kind of pronouced like it looks...) It's German I think but I don't quite remember the whole thing.

There aren't really any childhood songs that I can recall, but I know there's this one lullaby my mom made up for when my older brother was born. It doesn't have any words, it's just humming basically, but it's really nice and I use it to help my little brother fall asleep all the time.
![]() I'll hum it to my kids someday. |

My granmother used to make me sing church songs! She still does... -.-U Perhaps that's why I dislike church so much to the point where I only go one week a year? For free food, of course. VBS =
![]() Other than that... The Perry Mason theme music. Haha... I used to be so excited when Perry Mason would come on! |

Well, The sheep one isnt really messed up, Because in the Bible they use sheep as an example, and say that Jesus is the shepard.
So it makes sense... and I do remember that song from sunday school. ![]() I knew a lot of songs like that when I was little, childhood songs = Awesome. |

My mom used to always sing this one to me:
QUOTE Oooooh, I had a little chicky and she wouldn't lay an egg.
So I poured hot water all over her head! And the little chicky cryed and the little chicky begged. And the little chicky layed me a hard boiled egg! |
