Materazzi deserved every rib cracked and breath lost from Zidane's headbutt - it is hard to find another player as dirty as Materazzi. As far as the result, I couldn't care less, it is just a shame that a team as dirty and a team that takes as many falls as Italy had to win. The World Cup as a whole was successful, shit I wasn't even into soccer before this.

man if the italians didnt have buffon, they wouldnt have even had a chance at the world cup.
as a team, france is much much better. they deserved to have won the world cup. they only didnt because a) the ref was biased and didnt call an offsides on the italian goal which wouldve been picked up by refs at my local soccer games b) they had an amazing goalie c) the french team made a mistake. italy should have lost because not only did their strategy, teamwork, and defense really suck (if u looked towards the end of the game, the essential defensive strategy of italy was to group all their players in their side of the field), but because the italian team played dirty and were entirely dependant on the skills of their goalie. |

Italy definitely didn't deserve to win.. The French played much, MUCH better. Especially in the second half.. they had way more attacks than the Italians! The bad thing is that they could never finish them well..
And Zidane.. man. I wonder what that guy said to him to get him so angry. And it's his last match too! So idiotic... Oh yeah, and if they didn't take out Henry and that guy with number 22, things would've been better.. Plus, after Zidane got a red card, it got just too depressing for them.. |

I find it a bit...distressful that both Henri and Zidane were out of the PKs. I would believe it would have gone into sudden death PKs if it were not for their absense.

What ever happened between Materazzi and Zidane probably didn't have to be solved with a headbutt. And I'm an Italian fan, so I wanted Italy to win. And it seems like alot of you here didn't want them to win the World Cup. But just think about it, if Zidane was never red carded, and stayed in the game, do you think he would have had the strength to bring France to Italy. What if Zidane stayed and France still lost? I kinda think that you guys are blaming the victory of the Italian team, all on that one moment of the headbutt. Just my thoughts.

italy never should have made it into the finals or even the semi finals. their team sucks with the exception of buffon, and they got lucky that their path to the finals was relatively easy.
actually how materazzi played matters quite a bit. materazzi is just fortunate enough that the ref was biased or inept enough to not notice all his fouls he committed without the ball, yet call the one on zidane |

^ How Materazzi playe doesn't matter with regard to what Zidane did do, not what the referees didn't do. Yes, the referees were biased, yet that still doesn't mean what Zidane did was right at all.
