How do you pronounce macabre?
Definition: 1. Suggesting the horror of death and decay; gruesome: macabre tales of war and plague in the Middle Ages. See Synonyms at ghastly. 2. Constituting or including a representation of death. (m-käbr, m-käb, -käbr) What's that supposed to mean? How do you pronounce it? I pronounce it (muh-CAW-bruh). |

I've always pronounced it Ma(h) CAWB. Hrm.
What do you mean, "What is it supposed to mean"? |

All three pronunciations are acceptable. I always say 'ma-cawb-r' with a slight r sound at the end. Macabre is actually French in origin, hence the way I say it.
Does that make sense? |

(m-käbr, m-käb, -käbr) What's that supposed to mean? How do you pronounce it? I pronounce it (muh-CAW-bruh). Mmm, well the ä is usually pronounced like the a in "father," so the "ah" sound in the pronounciation is what it means.. I think. That is, if that's what you were referring to. Oh, and I would've pronounced it mah-cah-bré..? Yeah, I think that's wrong.. |

Does that make sense? i think rebecca is correct. and that's how i pronounce it. although, i dont honestly use it very often, i must say. |
