Lol it is kinda embarassing to post here, considering how I believe many problems arent truly problems at all. But doesnt matter, here it goes:
After my school year, I looked back and I saw nothing. Im pretty much a fat, lazy b****** with no friends. Im mediocre in school and I am a couch potato/computer geek. I knew sth gotta change. I think these are my problems: 1) Computer - This darned invention always seems to lure me in and I lose the sense. Homework? Later. Revision? Can wait. I somehow need to stop my addiction so I can a normal life again. 2) No friends - Well, I am not shy, but the thing is I dont feel I am in any group of friends. I mean we have laughs and work together, but I dont truly feel Im their 'friend'. I dont even think they consider me friend. Many times have I seen them laugh and talk and I want to join them, but I just dont feel a part of them. 3) Unfit - I get stitches by walking 100m and I am sick of myself being a fat lump of meat. Well, I already do more exercise. I try to run more (1 km) and I now can do 15 push-ups and 30 sit-ups (I know I suck but Im trying to improve) I also eat pretty unhealthily but I dont know any healthy food and stuff. Summary: Need help on: Stop computer addiction Get more friends choosing exercise to do and I just cant seem to go past what I can do (never can get past 15 push-ups) Healthy diet I know Im asking alot and no one is obliged to help. But if you do, I show my eternal gratitude. THANK YOU! |

Well, post here certainly doesn't help with any of your goals. Its just raw discipline. Gotta force yourself to do it. If you can't, then have someone beat yo ass. Btw, I don't think you should call it a revolution considering a revolution usually means a shift of power.

As far as exercising goes, you just gotta get up and do it. I used to be like you. I wasn't fat but I was pretty out of shape. I didn't do much. So I decided to start running, doing pushups, situps, and so forth. It was tough at first, it took a lot of work. But I just made it into a habit. I do all of those things at regular times: 60 situps and 60 pushups when I get up, run for 3.25 miles after work, then do another 60/60. Basically you just have to force yourself to do it until it becomes a habit. It takes a few weeks but eventually you'll do it without even having to "force" yourself to.

Unplug your computer and work in a library.
Join a school club, join a sports team. And as for exercising, http://askheychris.livejournal.com/78041.html |

It really isn't as easy as it sounds. I am horrible at all sports, I can't run, I can't do sh!t because I'm slow. Both literally and whatever the other way is called. Bah! I need a revolution as well...

I need a revolution as well... You'll get better at it the more you do it. When I started running, I could barely run a half mile without panting. I thought I'd never be able to run that much. But hey, after a bit of work, I can run 3.5 miles at a 7.5mph pace. Not amazing compared to what others can do, but it's a big improvement. Of course, it took some work. But don't just jump into running a few miles; start low and work your way up. If you work at it, you'll get there eventually. |

if you want to lose fat and gain muscle,
then i suggest running or a sport with a lot of running (basically all of them.) some good ones are soccer (dont be goalie) and basketball. run or play that sport everyday, if you can. umm combine that with some strengthening exercises such as push ups, sit ups, squats, etc. diamond pushups are good i hear. um. when you get more into it, you can try diamond push ups (or try them right away). Basically you make a diamond with your hands and do a pushup. i hear you can do them chest level or eye level. i just did some now, and the eye level ones were harder. wide arm pushups are good for developing your chest and shoulder muscles, while narrower ones focus on your tricep muscles. if you do situps with your knees in the air, it works out your lower abs as well as your upper ones, i hear. did them in PE, but dont remember the results. you can also do jabs, where you raise yourself off the ground and have your hands on teh ground next to you. then you hold that position and repeatedly touch your ankles, alternating from side to side. this works your obliques, the muscles on the side of your torso. leg lifts are very beneficial for lower abs. you lay flat on your back, place your hand under your lower back, or butt, whichever is more comfortable for you, and lift your legs 6 inches or a good 16 centimeters (i notice you use metric system) off the ground. spread, hold for a 5 count (5 seconds), close them and hold for 5 seconds, and then down. start out with maybe 3-5 of those. and in the same position you can hold your legs together and and lift them so that the bottom of your feet are facing the ceiling, then back down, but don't let them touch the ground. try doing 20 of those, see how you feel, and try to do another set of 20. all these exercises can be done in sets. you can increase the number in a set and the number of sets a day. the key is to start small, so you dont end up really sore the next day. |

oh and it also helps to work out with somebody, you can get competitive and the energy between two people is shared, or something like that. Plus you won't feel so awkward.

yeah, try working out with someone- it'll make you feel more obligated to not slack off and it'll help to pace you.
my advice is to build it into a habit- and keep yourself motivated! usually you'll want to run and/or do your other exercises at the same time every day- that way it'll be harder to put it off until later. ;) for running, the trick is to start slow and gradually build yourself up. you won't be able to run for very long or very far when you first start, but eventually you'll be able to increase your workout. but it takes a hecka lot of work to really get into shape, and it's incredibly easy to backslide (trust me, i know!). gaining weight is so much easier than losing it. but i don't want to be discouraging, because it's really not that hard if you give it commitment. -for exercising, running would be the easiest/most convenient. and also do some of the excellent exercises mentioned by vietboi916 above, either before or after your workout. or before you go to bed. or right after you get up. whenever, just make sure it's at the same time every day. -here's the timing for when to do your running (or whatever you plan to do): # Less than 1 hour for a snack of 200 or fewer calories # 1 - 2 hours for a liquid meal (such as a liquid meal replacement or blended meal — a smoothie) # 2 - 3 hours for a smaller sized meal: 200 - 400 calories # 3 - 4 hours for a larger meal: over 500 calories (http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/1915.html) although i'm betting that's probably an overestimate.. i've run 45 min. after having a moderately sized meal without any problems. i'd say usually wait at least an hour // hour and a half after dinner before running, just to be safe. http://www.wikihow.com/Have-More-Endurance http://www.wikihow.com/Motivate-Yourself-to-Work-Out http://www.wikihow.com/Go-for-a-Long-Run try poking around on wikihow, they have lots of great advice for beginning runners. |

i have the same problems as you... i'm just too lazy to fix them.
if you already know scripting or are interested in it, maybe you could just work on that whenever you come online, then after high school, you can go to some web-design college thing, and then get a job in it!! that way you'll NEVER have to leave the computer!! well you will... but it'll be your job! hehe yeah, that's what i plan on doing... |

Join a sports team at skool or somewhere else ....you can get excercise, lose weight, meet new people, and not be on the computer. but first you gotta have determination to change.

Sorry I dint update cuz I thought no one cared.........
Well I am ashamed to tell you guys that I havent ran much, not blaming anything but I just dont have any time (rushed homework before summer hols, extra lessons, its still all my fault so I have nothing as excuse) But now its hols so I will run more. Well I ran yesterday. Only 1.5 km (~ 1 mile) and almost died (heart really fast, not much ache or pain though) I am planning to increase in increments of 1/2 km everytime (nothing significant) Well I can do 35 sit-ups consecutively but no matter how hard I try, I cant improve from 15 push-ups. I struggle to do them and even mental power proved no use. I guess I just have to work harder. Well, I dint have time to try out most of the exercise but I cannot manage to do even 1 diamond pushup. Ill formulate a schedule by the end of the week and Ill post it up for comments (if anyone cares) Question: Any good exercise for quadriceps, calfs, triceps and biceps? Well I guess mentally Im fine except there is always a feeling of 'emptiness' inside. I feel like I achieve nothing and I play games to fill it (which make it even worse, bad cycle). Any suggestions to get out of that mentality? During this short period, I made a few friends (not that close as in we hang out all the time (almost not at all cuz they are the 'popular guys' and Im a 'Crazy chinese study-till-death student', but they are there to mentally support me (they are very nice and mentally deep (if you get what I mean) I know this is a lot I ask to help and nobody is obliged to help me, but I will appreciate all imput. I am doing pretty good! |
