Alright, so this movie's heyday may have passed, but the thought just came to be. Why was "The Passion of the Christ" considered such a good movie? Was it because it revolved around Jesus's life and such?

Although i'm sure Jesus' life and death is the epitome of intresting, the movie honestly was not that great. It performed a quick overview of Jesus' life, wasn't exactly beatifully written or acted, and I just wasn't feeling the character relationships. The only scene that stands out is the "Jesus getting beat" scene which took the whole concept of showing Jesus' sacrafice and pain one step too far.

Every other scene felt forced, only there because a Jesus film has gotta have it. You never did get a deeper view into who Jesus really was.

I think this film only did so well because it was a monopoly when it comes to modern Jesus films. You'd think our "savior's" story would be more deserving of a better movie, but if this is all people are givin they'll take it and go as far as to call it "good".

Note to mods/admins: Before you let that overwhelming urge to move this to "entertainment" because its a movie, keep in mind that this topic strives to serve as a discussion on why the "The Passion of the Christ" should/shouldn't be considered a good movie.

Actually, I thought it was good, but it could've been better.

I don't know... it seemed... kind of boring...

Sorry to those who liked the movie.

i hated it, it wasnt anti semetic (coming from a girl who's boyfriend is jewish,) but it was definetly boring, and there was no point. i felt like mel gibson was trying to prove some underlying point. and it was GROSS. seriously i think that they didn't need to do that, the movie as a movie had no point, and didn't seem very religiously important, but I guess other people viewed it as so, so whatever!

mel gibson did an awesome job to that movie and im glad that he made that movie and of course all christians are happy about to see that so they can see how Jesus did for us... and how he went through. that movie was awesome, even tho there was so much gore. i get to see how much pain he went through... sigh i felt bad wen they choose over the prisoner instead of Jesus...it's so weird wat did the prisoner do? he didnt do any good things...all he did was bad things... and for like Jesus, he saved so many ppls and cured them... u knoe if they werent cured the first place....one of u guys wouldnt be here in this earth by now.

Alright, so the opposing argument is that this film clearly represents what Jesus went through. Don't you think the story telling was a bit shoddy though?

And saying this film is bad doesn't make you the antichrist. It just makes you anti-crazy mel gibson directing.

She's only putting in her thoughts on it. And I remember, it was you arguing fanatically for a Jewish side of a debate.

I didn't see it, but the religion that pulsed deep in it clearly affected many people..

i haven't seen it, i protested against it because i don't believe in commercializing any religion especially mine to sell money and make a profit over jesus christ death, it's almost as bad as going to his real death and paying to see it for enntertainment. you might as well have been gambling for his clothing right under his feet. oh and yeah, it was supposed to be gross.. duh! the guy was being killed, anyone with half an imagination could read the movie for free.

Well I thought it was a good movie, but I kind of wanted to see his overall life, not just the end of it. But yeah, I liked it. Kind of changed my perspective on the whole situation of Jesus and how he sacrificed our life for us, but yeah, whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, but you can't truly say that it's the same as the Bible because no one lived to see how it was like - whether it was that gruesome or not.

Just so you know, I have seen the movie twice and it's VERY good however I am not a Christian.

I think it was rated such a good movie one because it was a good movie, two; it was nicely done and the fact that it was sooo close to explaining the life of Jesus and because a huge star directed the movie.
