Oh no, sorry. Just that last part because I know not all rap is about hoes and stuff. The rest was serious.
Kid, I really really really really REALLY don't believe you are one to talk. I've seen your work. Most of it is terrible. I didn't think you knew what a rhyme scheme was.
I agree with you on both points made. That's what I was just about to say. It doesn't really matter. If you like it, go you. I just wanted to throw in that it doesn't take much talent to record and be good at rap.

You've seen my work? From when, 2 years ago? Of course, that was meant to be a joke .. but if you want me to be serious, I can show you some pieces .. dosen't matter what subject it is .. just let me know when you want a sample .. laughters.

Yeah let's see you do it. It does require much work and talent to record and be good at rap. Why do you think that? Just because you don't need to understand the theory of "actual" music? Your wrong. You need creativity, flow, metaphors there are many categories in rapping. It's not just ..

"uhh ima pick a beat and rap over it"

if you gonna rap .. then obviously you need to write .. you gotta know some poetry flavor ..

Without all that, then of course anyone can do that if they have their equipments .. a true lyricist and emcee knows the basics .. just ask pentheinstrument former cb member ..

next time, please watch what you say.

we'll let the masses of cB decide how good you are.

i'm not saying this to make fun of you, or anything.

but if you want to completely and totally prove your point, i think this would be the best way to do it. if anybody else can think of a better way, always open for suggestions.

Oh I know you aren't. Don't worry, I'm not all uptight like most people on here. Actually, I used to have this whole thing layed out when I used to rap, haha. I wish I still had all of it. I quit rapping because it's turned into nothing but crap these days and I began to hate it. I always had a hard time firguring out what rap stood for anymore. That was all about 3 or 4 years ago though.

Oh, well, at the time it didn't seem like you thought it was a joke. Sure, I'll even help you out. I'm pretty good at writing. happy.gif

Why do so many people diss Jason's "work", when they have no work to show for themselves?

Actually, I have lots of my work in the writing forum happy.gif I'd like you to go check it out! I have some recordings of my rock music at my friend Chases house. He's got the whole set up. I don't have it here.

Bro, being that we are in the same buisness, that is, the music buisness, you should know I know a hell of a lot more then a thing or two about it, k? And don't tell me to watch what I say, hahaha. That makes me laugh. I know exactly what I'm talking about and I don't need you to try and correct where I stand when it doesn't even look like you've got your own groundings yet.

Just to let you guys know, my favorite rapper is TuPac. Now, I agree, he knew what he was doin. And this fourm is "wiggity wack," lol.

It could go on for pages without any "progress".

Yeah, I guess we should feel fortunate to be part of the enlightened ones instead of trying to convert people like Justin.

plenty of people find rap songs objectionable.

because, like it or not, mainstream rap feeds of the whole "i'm a bad ass ganster, and i do whatever i want" theme.

I guess we could make a compromise and say it doesn't take as much talent? It'd be nice to shut this arguing over nothing up.

Exactly. I'd be happy to help you improve. Everyone can improve, and that definitely includes me. I've got years to go before I ever truly master rock music.

Sorry, I have dial-up and it's hard to keep up with these posts comin in so fast, haha.

I thought rap was a subgenre of hip-hop... Hip-hop covers reggae and R&B and stuff like that, right? Well, I don't think this is a very good debate because rap is just a genre of music. People have preferences about music and a lot of people just don't like rap and don't find it entertaining.

yeah i dont have a problem with rap i dont like really hard core rapping but i dont like hard core anything its all noise to me

ok... first lets get all the cliche`s out the way....

- too much violence
- disrespects women
-cusses too much
- videos have too much ass-shaking

but this doesnt apply to all rap so im just wondering - what do ppl really have against rap music?

Why would you ask a question like this? Some people like rap. some people don't. You might as well as ask whats wrong with music. Not everybody is going to like something.

Whats wrong with Rock?
Whats wrong with Pop?
Whats wrong with Classic?
Whats wrong with Country?

You get the point. This thread is pointless. And by reading the posts that people have typed, this thread is going nowhere.

Ok, these two are the 2 most stupidest posts I've ever had the displeasure to read.

You don't like "Asian Music" because their voices bug you? Music is music my friend, so you are asuming that ALL Asian music sounds the same? Even though there is no genre called Asian music, you assume that music genres such as rap/rock/pop don't apply to music when it involves Asians? Nice job Hitler. Shows how much your dumbass knows.

Actually, almost all the rappers out there aren't hustlers. So YOU should open your damn eyes. Most of the rappers out there who have nationwide success or international success are pretty rich. Or have some money, "Upper Middle Class." None or most of them aren't hustlers. Why the f**k would they need to hustle? They already have all that money. Use f**king common sense. Why would they go back to hustling, when they already have the f**king money, and don't need to hustle anymore. I don't see 50 Cent going to Compton and hustling. Dumbass, you need to OPEN your eyes. This isn't even something you have to look up, this is basically common knowledge.

Have you ever listened to like a symphony or an arrangement?

There could be three parts...and the main part of the arrangement/symphony always comes back in all the different movements.

Uh, I'm a professional pianist, so I have heard many, many symphonies. But when the theme comes back in the recap, it's not the same - it's variated, most of it. And it never sounds boring (for those who actually like classical music).

You sure make a lot of claims. The media says it? Show me. Open my eyes? Exactly where in your post do you state MOST?

There are many Mozart Quintets of which the recap is the same.

crazy.gif verymad.gif Yes the media does state that, they do not say it exactly but how they try to say it is explanitory for those who can actually understand it.For example look at what happened to 2pac.Search it up.READ stubborn.gif ((i dont know too much about 2pac but the facts i have for rap history channel or something like that states he was set up e.t.c by puffy to get money e.t.c i dunno))you must of had practice at really learning how to piss someone off....

Overally this cant be debatable,as this whole thing was mainly based uppon peoples personal opinions rather than whats actually really wrong.

It never sounds boring. And don't you repeat the chorus in all songs anyway? I don't think this is very relevant..

Hmm. What was the original claim? That rap isn't music because it repeats itself? o.O

laffy taffy is just a fun song people like to dance to! music doesnt have to be all serious and have meaning, whats the fun in that?! so what if 50 cent likes to rap about tits and ass, all guys love tits and ass.
i tihnk some people have derived a preconceived notion of hip hop/rap and their creators.
i may be wrong but i think rock stars screaming with crazy hair, painted faces, jumping into crowds, bathing in blood onstage, biting the heads off pigeons, smashing expensive guitars and systems, and running around in tight leather is alot more wild and violent than rap dontcha think?

So you think appearance is more important than personality, basically.

You are wrong. Name one rock star who does all that you wrote. Sure, heavy/death metal stars (SOME) could probably do that. But I don't think there are many things that are more violent than shooting people. Don't you think?

Besides, you can have fun without talking about blow jobs and f**king. Ahem, 50 cent, ahem.
