mayhaps spam really is increasing.
but more apparent to me is the decrease in regular posts.

i blocked your avatar a long time ago, so i'm not sure what it is... could you remind me?
apparently you do. you're the one making a big deal out of this.

just accept you're not a gangster and no amount of acting macho online is going to change that.
see guys? isn't this fun?

You blocked my avatar? Hmm, like I really care? I am not a gangster, I never claimed I was in any part of a gang, haha? So guess what, I can prove you wrong any day. Yeah, I did accept that I am not a gangster, I never said I was previously anyway. Way to be nice.

it was annoying me for some reason.

someone else tell me what it is?

anyways kangsta. what's with this whole thing online, you know, acting all tough, getting on to people making fun of your idioticty?

i don't need to prove my facts. i'm lying out of my teeth. i'm baiting you. anyone can see that. and someone smarter might realize that by taking my bait, you're proving my facts for me.

i'm not here to be nice, at least, not to you. it's much more fun not to be, you know.

when people spam and have off-topic conversations with eachother, the topic tends to die down. i know that whenever i see people having personal discussions that i dont care about because i dont know them, i just leave. it's irritates me because people can use aim, msn, or any other messenger to talk to eachother when it becomes off-topic.

Why don't you try to stop ignoring people, and answer my question? Where is your proof that you think I am a gangster? Exactly, you got none. Your just trying to say that to lower my reputation. Is it because I act tough? No, I don't think so. So stop calling other people "wannabe whatevers" when they're actually not, so maybe if you bring the proof and prove your words, then maybe I'll shut up? Haha this is an internet forum, I'm free. I just do what I want to do as long as I don't act like a thug and act 100% violent and all that shit .. I'm like a volcano ready to erupt when people like you get on my nerves. You should know. ?

People will still post in the "boring" topics; it'll just die out on its own.

Jason, yes, we all know. So just discontinue it.

some topics are only good for a few pages. like that whole "girl runs away to middle-east to meet man she met on myspace?"

2 pages of mostly people calling her an idiot.

that's not a good topic. but people still posted.

ironies abound. I'll stop now. but that was pretty fun.

well, people found it "interesting" and something stupid that she did, i suppose, so they post in it! when you said "boring", i thought you were meaning something like a topic on the laws of physics.

oh no. such a topic would be very interesting.

boring= pages upon pages of single posts, no discussion happening.

i mean, i even tried to provoke a discussion in that thread by calling everyone who posted a pathetic coward, but i didn't get any takers.

people just read the first post and put thier opinion. didn't bother reading the topics.

Bring this back in, please. Who knows, this might actually go somewhere. I can't quote every meaningful post since the beginning of this thread, but I will remind everyone what the point of all this is:
QUOTE(Acid Bath Slayer @ Jun 20 2006, 10:12 PM) *
Alright. I have noticed recently that these boards have been suffering from an obscene amount of spam and one on one conversation based posting. The entire vibe and feel of the boards have, in my opinion, reached a kind of low. The debate threads are more stagnant than ever. The lounge is a waste of time. The entertainment threads suffer any kind of in-depth or worthwhile posts. It just seems like the community boards are really beginning to suck.

The problem is, how would we solve this problem?
Do we need to punish those spammers? If so, will traffic decrease to a useless degree?
Maybe we can try to attract some older parties?
The debate thread could become exclusive. But, then it might actually become entirely stagnant.
The idea for an art subforum seems to be a push in the right direction.
Or maybe I should just find a more suitable community board?

What do you guys think?

i retain my potition that spamming isn't the primary problem, it's a secondary problem related to the loss of community- and that this can be recreated by dividing active members into smaller groups

Then why didn't you ignore me? You make yourself look like an idiot by just posting here in cB. hang up your keyboards, log off cb, and just retire son. typing in caps dosen't get anyone's attention bigger .. and no I could care less about winning this or losing this or whatever, but one thing I could care about is having you shut the f**k up and stop responding here.

by the way

making stuff up is a really bitch move .. sayin he's that, sayin he's this when he's actually not is a really bitch move .. sarcasm is a bitch move .. I mean everything you do is a bitch move .. so listen to me and QUIT.

QUOTE(Acid Bath Slayer @ Jun 21 2006, 2:04 PM) *
I think this is an important and easily overlooked point.
I made this thread because I care about the future of Createblog and wish to see it do well. I think it would appear evident that a decent amount of posters (not exactly spammers) don't really care too much, or at least, have different values in the matter. I want the community to grow stronger, more friendly and ultimately become a more stimulating, interesting, and personal area.

Would it really hurt the community if those who did not care for it left?

I think that if we did lose some members over a policy change, it would be a blessing in disguise. If a policy change was made in order to increase the quality of the boards, and certain members decided to leave because of it, that may be a good thing. Their values may not be positioned in a way to promote a greater quality of the boards. So, if those people who embraced leniency only to abuse it left, wouldn't that be a good thing? Also, wouldn't that speak volumes to their actual intent here on the boards?

But, I think this is a far greater issue than lenient or strict. In fact, I think it's clear (Sammi kind of pointed it out) that such a division is a false dichotomy. Worse yet, it may be a red herring. I think the real issue is that there is little to no promotion for a higher standard of quality posting. What we need, at least, is some kind of encouragement for members to post more meaningful, less general, and more interesting threads which hold more quality and value than those plague infested "drive-by threads."

I don't think there is an issue of censorship. Everyone is, under the rule set, easily capable of expressing their views, opinions, and sentiments. However, few seem to want to do so in an appropriate or meaningful manner.

i mean, asian 12 year olds who think they're black- pretty entertaining.

ITS ANNOYING! THEY AREN'T GANGSTERS!

And, the smaller groups would work, but that brings up the issue of "not being with who they want to be".
