Would you ever tell people you were going to kill yourself just to see who cares about you?



One of my friends did, he's done it before, and I'm getting sick of it.
I don't think i ever would, but some twisted things happen when your brain is confused.

i have told him, but I waited until he was under "care" to do it. He was hiding out like he had done it and my friend called the cops and they took him to a facility.

I think it's pretty pathetic and if that individual needs attention that bad than maybe they should look into becoming an actor.

Is there anything wrong with the guy ?
what provokes him to do that besides seeing who cares about him.

I knew someone who did that. She would throw these fits and say she was going to kill herself and we stopped listening and she would then get mad at us for not caring. really sad.

I get confused too..sometimes I think I should leave them alone and sometimes I think I should help them. Well no,I don`t care.I wouldn`t want to try to risk my life just to prove who cares about me.

It's not that I don't appreciate or have empathy for those going through troubled times emotionally but seriously, threatening to kill yourself? Pathetic. Perhaps my use of the word "threatening" is a bit harsh. Get over it. That's exactly what it is. If people truly intended to end their life, they'd just do it and not tell anyone of their intentions.

I say (or used to at least) that I'm gonna kill myself all the time. I say it openly but not for that reason. I already know people care about me.. have you ever stopped & considered that maybe they are trying to tell you that they need help?

Then why not be direct? *SAY* "I need help". I'm sorry, again I don't mean to sound heartless. But why can't people just communicate with eachother? It's ok to share your pain. Why threaten something as drastic as ending your life?

When I was younger, I had depression, which I have been able to overcome later on in my life. But I had contimplated suicide before. I never told anyone about it...because I didn't want anyone to know. A cople of my friends have told me different stories...either they had cancer...or they were going to kill themselves or whatever. When I found out that it wasn't true of course....I told them that they were my friends...and I did care about them, but saying you're going to commit suicide....in my opinion, is just stupid. If they do have a problem...they need to confront it and tell someone who can help. But doing that just to find out who cares about you is a definate no no

When i was in 7th grade, i tried to commit suicide. i was tired of everything. my parents &friends, but i didn`t tell anyone about that. i had no one to turn to. no one i could to tell my story.. so i thought that was the only thing i could do. then i realized that everyone`s elses lives had many problems but they stayed strong and my friends were therr for me and they helped me get through everything.. but i think what that person is doing is really stupid. just trying to get attention from people. when the time comes he might me serious of killing himself and really wants to do it. but when he tells everyone they won`t care. they would think he`s doing "that" again. just like the boy who cried wolf

I have a friend like that,
she really annoys me whenever she does that.
I tell her it annoys me though,
and half the time when she does it I'll just walk off.
I don't have to deal with it anymore,now.

I'd never use suicide just to see who cares...but when I was younger I would say "If I die tomorrow, would you care?"...which I guess its the same thing. But now, I just ask.

I would never tell someone that I am going to kill myself just to figure out if they care about me because they know I would never do something like that no matter what and also its pretty dumb to scare someone just to figure out if they care about you.

I wouldn't fake wanting to commit suicide to see who cares about me.

If one of my friends were to do such a thing, naturally I'd worry and be concerned, offering them help. But if it happened continiously, and I was sure that they never intended to commit suicide during any of the times that they faked wanting to take their own life, I'd be all, "..stfu and stop."

It bugs the hell outta' me when people joke about such serious matters.

When someone does that repeatedly to me, i get really pissed... I know one kid who did that... the only reason I didn't beat the hell out of them, was becuase they were phisically disabled... I felt like they were taking advantage of the people around them... doing things like that are selfish.
