for those teenagers that have been in a monogamous relationship for at least 2 years:

do you guys celebrate the small monthly "anniversaries" anymore? i remember in the first couple of months in our relationship, we got excited for one month, 2 months, 3 months, but after a while, we just stopped caring about the small months. only the 6 month semianniversaries and the anniversary itself became special. like, we only celebrate our 2.5, 3, 3.5 etc year anniversary.

is it the same for others?

Ehh, I'm not in a 2 year relationship yet, but it's been 1.5 years...

We never celebrated the monthly aniversaries. We didn't really celebrate the 6 month and the year aniversary. For our 1 year, I had to plan things. So, it doesn't really factor in our relationship.

I would only celebrate annual anniversaries after I hit the 2 year mark. I used to celebrate the monthly things and be really, really into them (I love holidays and stuff of that nature) until my ex completely ruined it for me by saying "anniversaries only mark how long two people have tolerated one another." That killed it and he wondered what the hell he did wrong stubborn.gif

So right now, I'm just going to celebrate the 1 month, the 6 month and the annuals. Maybe the 100th day.

When we do have monthly anniversarys we do wish each other happy anniversary and thats usually the end of it. Sometimes we'll go out somewhere but I don't believe its been recently. So in other words we recognize it but really don't do more than that.

Well me & my boyfriend WERE together for 3 1/2 years....& no, we didnt count the small anniversarys. We may have mentioned sometimes that it was the 6th of the month but not every time & we didnt get all that excited unless it was a semi or an actual year anniversary

Speaking from the perspective of an "old" college student, celebrating anniversaries monthly is highly unusual for most people I know. Even people who have only been together for a year or so tend to only celebrate anniversaries on the year (one year, two year, etc.).

I would do the same as you have. Celebrate the first and do the annuals.
