i've played a nocturne by chopin. i think all of those are pretty. i've played "jardins sous la pluie" by debussy. it's very pretty.

canon d in major is like the romantic song for me including with those other categorize such as fun, exciting, relaxing...hehe

^ I think Kameko's referring to the Classical and Romantic periods in music, not the general mood of the pieces.
I swear I've posted in a topic like this over 5 times before. Anyway...these are my favourites out of the ones I've played. - Any noctures by Chopin, but I love Nocturne in E minor, Op.72 No.1 - First Arabesque by Debussy - Claire de Lune, also by Debussy - Beethoven sonatas. I love Sonata in F minor, Op.2 No.1. |

Yeah I meant the periods of music.
Personally I like romantic songs. I need a good romantic song to play on the piano. |

If you like extremely romantic pieces, then go for Chopin. Tons of to-die-for tempo rubato and pedalling. Any of his nocturnes are always good because, even at a higher grade level, they're still easy. Just be prepared for a lot of movement in the elbows, as there are a lot of big jumps between notes. I'm playing a Schumann for my Romantic selection now, and it's nothing compared to a Chopin. The pedalling is EXTREMELY annoying. |

^I agree with the Chopin part.
I play the waltzes of Chopin, but I personally think nocturnes are prettier. The waltzes might require some sight-reading, but they are good for fun and romantic occasions depending on which waltz is being played. |

Anything by Chopin, Debussy, Mendelssohn (best romantic songs), or Tchaikovsky is always good....anything by Mozart is boring. Playing his concertos makes me want to rip my hair out because it's either reallyreally fast or way too slow.

Like everyone else has said, Chopin's nocturnes are brilliant. I've played a couple on the piano, and have a couple recordings, and they give you goosebumps. And there was also that performance in The Pianist, and even though Adrien Brody wasn't actually playing the nocturne (which *cough* would have made me love him even more), it was wonderful.

If you have the fingers for it, Beethoven's first movements of most of his sonatas are pretty cool. If you have slower, less nimble fingers, then you'd probably like something less fast-paced, like a second movement.
Second movements piss the hell out of me, by the way. |
