I don`t know if the designer googled them or not..but they have great image quality..
Does anyone know where to get images like that? I`m not sure what they`re called.

umm...I would advise the the blur and overlay technique. Take the photo u wanna improve, duplicate it, gaussian blur it then set its blending mode to overlay. the you can adjust the hue and saturation and contrast and opacity till you get something you like. Of course I'm assuming you know photoshop when I say these things. THeres a tutorial on it here : http://www.createblog.com/tutorials/download.php?id=177

I reccomend taking the instructions in the tutorial to the extreme since you arent wanting to sharpen a photo, ur wanting to make it lok glossy like those others. So crank the blur up and play with the settings. I use it for every photo I have of myself on mywebsite. Its awesome.
