Summer has come upon us and I really want to go out and finally learn how to skateboard. I'm almost 15 and all, so my friends are looking forward to laughing at me (especially since I'm a girl).
Anyways, I need help with the board. Yeah, it sounds dumb, but I'd feel dumb asking my friends who are already way into it. I have no idea what I need to get, but I just need a basic board to learn on (obviously not some dumb kid board with spiderman on it). Obviously I'm poor so something below $100 would be nice, but I can still scavenge up money if I'm going to need it. I just need to know the basics I need 'cause I have no idea about the hardness of the wheels and stuff like that. Yeah, I just need some pointers. |

Here's a good tip: Don't skimp on trucks. You will wear trucks out really fast. They take a lot of stress, and once they break, they're potentially expensive to replace. So make sure to get some good ones.

If you go to a skateboard shop, I'd choose a completed board for beginners.
You might want to think about investing in safety gear too. |

I'd say good beginner boards are something from Element or Zero.

I heard elements break easily, back when I used to skateboard my gym teacher was a skateboarder/manufacturer so he gave me one of the boards he sells.
I'd say use a Mystery or Zero. Independent trucks aren't good, thats what I used to use, Royals are good. As for wheels, depends if you do vert or street, I'd go for spitfire and reds bearings. |

Hmmm...
I've been wanting to skateboard for a while too. But I've also been broke for a while. |
