Some members here on cB do not realize that a leniently moderated Lounge forum does not mean complete spam topics will be allowed. Got it? Jusun's intention of announcing it with a bang (which wasn't a terribly good idea) was so that repeated topics will be allowed, going slightly off-topic will be allowed, and that topics do not necessarily have to have a certain "point" to it, but that does not mean spamming will be allowed from now on. Refer to his statement: "sometimes things need to be revisted and retalked. its part of everyday life."

The leniency rule has not "gone to hell", some of you are just taking advantage of this rule. Bravo. This isn't just regarding the multiplex10 spam topics from this morning but also to members' comments about staff not being lenient enough. In fact, we've been more lenient than ever! The staff has been noticing such reactions for a while now. Considering what happens to cB when we are being lenient is proof enough that a completely unmoderated forum will not work!! Complaining about it in a childish way is not going to change anything, so suck it up.

I'm with you; the way people are acting now is just ridiculous.

There was one point on leniency made today that I actually agreed with, but I won't bring that one up, because for the most part, this is just ridiculous. It was a good theory on Jusun's part, but alas, he isn't around to see just how much the demographic of cb has fallen.

I think a lot of members were just taking advantage. It may not be fair to some members who weren't spamming, but I'm tired of the spam too.

Those who were spamming know who they are and have to accept the consequences. Anyone who wasn't spamming wasn't suspended.

{repost from Anonymous Shoutouts}

There is a difference between a bit of off-topic[ness] and loads of useless junk/spam. I know I, for one, have been trying to let a lot of crap fly because most of the members see our attempt to be more tolerant of spontaneous conversation as a new "policy", but it's getting out of control. I can speak only for myself when I say that I find it to be really annoying that everyone is taking this opportunity and running it into the ground for others. Yes, we want to encourage people to communicate more freely with one another, but it's going way too far. I'm fairly new to people staff so I don't like being to strict, but when it gets to the point that I, who have been a member for over two years, no longer look forward to logging on because I know that the threads will be filled with exclusive conversations and spam galore, it makes me sad. I'm just tired of it. I really am.

So go ahead, be angry and whatnot. I know that the mods have been tried to be respectful and mindful of micron's goals and the wishes of the community. I don't know why people can't see that there are a lot of members that are abusing that tolerance. I'm just sick of it...

I agree, I've actually mentioned to a few people to cut the spam because they are taking advantage. And honestly, yesterday was proof that some people don't deserve the rules to be lightened up.

I think we all are tired of the spam. It seems like a lot of the members are actually taking advantage of the leniency rule to (pardon me if I'm wrong) have an excuse to spam, something they find funny.

I agree with everything Naomi said.

It was one group of people, I wa stalking to some of them, and some of the poeple who made accounts just to spam don't even come on cb anymore. I think it needs to be clearly addressed, like maybe pinned, that the l;eniency rule was about making duplicate topics, and chatting on topic with barely going off topic about the subject. NOT spamming.

Plus, going off topic slightly should actually be pertinent to the original topic at some point. Random sex jokes don't quite fit that requirement.

Or pokemon battles, for that matter. I had actually made a topic in forum games for that, but it got abandoned because doing it elsewhere is fun.

Like I said, it's one group of people, and maybe some new people who don't know any better.

Yeah, I agree. I mean..reading the things that members post when they spam is sometimes amusing. But sometimes, it's gets old. So old that I stopped visiting a few threads that I actually liked looking back to, to see the replies of other members.

But when the spam parade begins, forget it. I have to look elsewhere, ugh. ermm.gif

I think the moderator team on a whole has to be a lot more strict. You break a rule, even if it's a small one, you get warned. After you mess up ten times (ten times is a lot) you're gone, forever. You could decrease all warning levels after a while, if the person's been good.

It's harsh, but it works.

Verbal warnings are stupid.

What do you guys expect. I mean they are kids. And obviously haven't matured in the head much. mellow.gif

This longue isn't even worth viewing anymore. With the useless topics that are being made.

As for the spam fests that have occured. The people who did them were well aware of the punishment for doing so. So i fully agree with the mod's who had to act. And offer thanks.
