QUOTE
Long-term marijuana use can lead to addiction for some people; that is, they use the drug compulsively even though it often interferes with family, school, work, and recreational activities.

Yea, and that has NOTHING to do with the drug itself. Allow me to attempt explaining why I stated that you had to be weak of mind to get addicted. People will end up doing things compulsively out of sheer habit because it gives them some sense of satisfaction. It seems obvious that we are growing up in very different societies, but an example I can give you is the person who jacks off every day in front of porn movies. They can't stop. They know it's not normal to be doing that but no matter how hard they try they can't stop it. Or maybe another example would be the person who can't stop lieing, or who can't stop manipulating others. They are fully aware that they are doing it, yet they have no way to control these habits. Sounds like an addiction to me.

Let's try to put it all together.

1)A dog finds out that bringing bad the frisbee gets him a cookie. He will bring back the frisbee as long as there will be cookies for him.

2)Posing a certain action gives someone satisfaction. As long as there will be satisfaction they will keep repeating the action forever.

3)Consuming a substance gives someone new and fun feelings. They will keep consuming the substance forever.

Addiction is created inside the head by the brain reacting favorably to a stimulus. If nothing discourages someone of using a drug, then why would they not use it? Outside influence (parents, friends, doctors, etc) will effectively reduce this risk of addiction. Knowledge that the drug is bad, for example, should be enough to persuade the person to be careful about the use that he is making of it. If they still get addicted to it, then they are idiots. You can consciously use drugs while knowing all the time that they are bad for you like I did and never end up addicted.

peace.

you should light up with her and realize that smoking pot is a great way to pass time happy.gif

Thats EXACTLY the approach that isnt required
Talk to your sister, tell her you love her and care for her and tell her that pot is stupid.

It all depends on how close you are with
you sister or parents. I'm not going to
lie. I'm an active buddha smoker. But
look at my posts. I don't sound dumb
or sound like I'm completely done
because all of my brain cells are fried.
It all depends on why she smokes it. If
she does to to be cool stop her. If she
does it for artistic reason, let it be her
muse.

I feel like everyone's gonna hate me for
this reply. :[

i agree. i'm also a smoker, but nothing has changed since. i do it with friends just to chill out and have fun.

honestly, dont go and tell your parents. thats the worst thing you could do. and dont be all up in her face telling her to quit when you havent tried it yourself.

pot isn't that bad.
