im 15, in the 9th grade
i dont think my parents are aware that highschool girls shave their legs
my mom never mentioned it to me or bought me a razor or anything
but
its really embarrasing to have hairy legs around the other girls in gym class
so
whenever im home alone i sneak into my parents bathroom and use my mom's (elecric) razor.
however, im not home alone any more than once a week, and i feel bad and and really pitifully loser-like to have to sneak around to shave my legs.
i cant just do it in the house when im NOT alone, because the razor is electric, and everyone can hear it when it's on. once i tried shaving w/ that razor upstairs when the rest of my family was downstairs but my dad heard and came upstairs. he knocked on the bathroom door and i quickly turned the razor off. he was like, "becca, what are you doing?" and i panicked and said "shaving" and he was like "WHAT?!!!" he couldnt believe it and when i finally came out i couldnt even look him in they eye it was sooooo embarrassing.
my parents i think are sorta uncomforable w/ me growing up- it took them a while for my mom to take me bra shpping etc... its always been a tough issue but i really need help...
i know, im a real loser :S

You can buy yourself a razor and the shaving cream, then shave in the shower. Be careful though, don't shave too roughly.
My mother has never mentioned any of it to me but I bought my first razor when I was 14...it wasn't for my legs though.

I'm SURE they would find out if I just did it behind their backs...
In the shower?
Plus I'm not sure I would even know how to shave if the razor wasn't electric- dont most people cut themselves their first few times?

i shave in the shower. you could use a depilatory lotion. and that even works better than shaving.

I'm a whimp and use Nair. It's bladeless shaving, and it works just as good. Its a cream you apply on, and then you give it about three min, and with the bladeless razor you wipe it off and rinse your leg with water. I got it in walgreens.

What's that???
That Nair stuff sounds good too, but how does it work if there's no blade... Is it like a chemical or something- does it hurt?

nair is just a cream type substance that you rub on your legs, leave on for about 8 minutes, then wash it off. it's a really good alternative to shaving your legs. you could also try veet waxing pads or razorless shaving.

well, if you close the door and wash it off well, they might not notice.

you know, eventually they're gonna have to realize that you need to shave. you can't dodge around it forever. lol

it's Nair Smoothing Effects hair remover cream (full name hahah.) It's dermatologist tested. Want a description? No chemicals, and does not hurt.

i used to be the same way. if you just tell your mom what you just said, how it's really embarrassing to be the only one that doesn't shave, she'll probably give in and buy you a razor.

What, Nair?
Yes, it does, but then you wash it off with water afterwards, and put some lotion on, and the smell goes away. :) Well, for me atleast. Keep us posted on what you do!

wow, hmm my dad was always against shaving legs because they make your hair grows thicker, but anyways i went to my friend's house and well my friend helped me shaved my legs the first time, so after that i told my mom and she let me go out and buy some razors and shaving cream and i started shaving ever since :). you should tell your parents about it, they'll definitely understand because girls these days shave their legs all the time.
