Although I was born in the US, I do have a Chinese name. My parents and grandparents say it differently.

I don't know the correct spelling but my mommy tells me that it's "Mei Gay" and my grandmother calls me "Mei Kay" (or the other way around, I forget pinch.gif ). I've asked people what it meant any someone tells me it means "a beauty that is rare" but my mom tells me it means "beautiful lady" like a really high up lady.

I don't know ermm.gif

Alana...really doesn't mean anything in Hindi or Arabic.
I think it's Irish for peaceable and beautiful. I don't like telling people that, because they start laughing and implying it's ironic. sad.gif

Well, I'm not Japanese, but:

Juliette in Spanish is pronounced "Yu-leeht" which annoys the hell out of me.
There is also "Julieta" or double-t, but..eugh. That is so not a name I'd want to called.
And it annoys me when I am called that.

Just.. Danielle. A lot of people get it mixed up and say "Daniel" or "Donyell" but other than that I've only used the one pronounciation.

^ ...Dony-yell? [/accent]
That is.. a bit disturbing?

I always read your name as "Dah-nee" since I've an Australian friend who shares the same name. It sets it apart from "Danny"..which is a bit Full-House-ish.
Err. Sorry, Dani :x.

I'd rather not share my Chinese name here. ;X
And to the topic starter, I highly doubt I've heard of a Chinese surname like yours.

Name [in English and Tagalog]: Aleli
But most people in the US tend to use Alily for me.
(Especially if they gave up trying to pronounce Aleli. XD)
