Why is that?
I didn't understand ANYTHING you said in your previous posts.

---

I'm excited for Cinco De Mayo at school. I love holidays that makes people wear their country colors and stuff. Mexican Independance Day was funner though.

Most people celebrated May 5th (when I lived in Cali) and didn't bat an eye on September 16th!

Awww, that sucks. They're restricting your right to celebrate an important holiday by making you wear a uniform! sad.gif

haha well, they probably dont know about No-pants day, Though.. they dont really have holidays unless its on a day we have school.
And... we had school on Valentines day, but I didnt go hahahaha

Well, guess what sucker...I dont have school on Friday. _smile.gif

Me either. _smile.gif But in all my years of going to three different schools, I can honestly say I've never heard anything about no pants day. blink.gif

I have nothing to celebrate, so I'm not doing anything special.. I'm going to work in two hours. sad.gif

Are you serious.

Lol.

Only kind of. i made those posts in frantic study mode, and I say ridiculous things when I'm like that. Hence, for the undermining bit, my diction just sucked. It wasn't like I was actiually just making up bullshit. Then, instead of hit the wrong smiley and didn't provide an actual explanation. It hardly matters.

Becuase it's a Mexican holiday that people celebrate as an excuse to drink a bunch of margatias. You can actually differentiate between Mexico's independance day and Cinco de Mayo, but most people don't, and thus the ignorance makes it pointless. Initially it wasn't pointless, but that's what it's become.

QUOTE
It commemorates the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza over the French expeditionary forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

It is a common misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_mayo

it celebrates when a small Mexican army defeated a large French army. and back then, France was known to have the most powerful army. it was an important victory for the Mexicans.

today in Spanish, all we did was talk about Cinco de Mayo. something intresting that we talked about was why Americans celebrate it.

why do you guys think that Cinco de Mayo is sort of a national holiday here?

^ That always cracks me up (that people don't realize it isn't an Independence Day)
