making a page come first, help

Hello, i want my into page to comp up before the index, but i don't know how to designate that page to come up first. thanx.. happy.gif

Um do you mean that you want an intro page? to come up before the index?


Make your index your intro page and put a link to the main page.
Then the other page (that is now your index page) you can call it like index2 or something just have teh intro page link to it so ppl can go in.

you mean you want a splash page?
just make your splash page your "index" page and your main website page your "index1" page.

Just because sometimes it's useful to have a page other than index.html show up first, and I always like my true index page to actually be named index..

Open up notepad and type this:
QUOTE
DirectoryIndex pageyouwanttocomefirst.html

Obviously replace the stuff at the end with your page.

Now name the file .htaccess and upload it to your webspace in the same directory as all your other files. Then go to your website and it should be working.

OMG YAY, i always wanted a splash page, but ppl said it couldnt be done w/ PHP!

okay, i did what Libertie said. I went to my files (and i actually saw a file that said .htaccess already there) so i edited it with what u said and it worked!
i freaking LOVE YOU! throb.gif lol -- thanx soo much.. (you should submit that to scripts by the way =] )
