We're not cloning all from ONE prototype person... We would be cloning from many different people... and besides there would still be people who would engage in traditiaonal reproduction for the hell of it

But then that leads to Gattaca.. the traditional ppl would be inferior to the cloned ppl

Personally I believe we should abolish clones. And twins. They confuse the hell out of me. Which ones which? Which one is evil? See? When you look at the facts, clones and twins are just plain stupid.

HOW would you abolish twins?

Oh the traditional and cloned people?

Some people are ALREADY naturally better than others. They might be stronger, smarter, etc. It already hapepns. If anything, cloning will allow people who are genetically predisposed to a survival disadvantage to improve.

Twins can be terminated as soon as they are discovered in the womb. Or, in the overpopulated and under-fed future, the methods proposed in An Honest Proposal could be used. As they say, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

BUT nobody's perfect.. eveyrone has their weaknesses, and cloning would just make those weaknesses more susceptible if more ppl possessed the exact same weaknesses

Or they could use genetic engineering to fix that weakness. It's a nonunqie harm.

Genetic engineering.. which leadsd to Gatacca.. an immense gap between those that can afford it, and those that can't; and plus, we currently dont have to technology to do that

But the disadvantaged could use the tricks used by the main character in Gataca to make themselves equal. So they could join the space program.

btw why did the guy in gataca roast himself at the end? how dreadfully painfull it must have been!

and he roasted himself because he was born so gifted, but he never had a dream or put his talent to good use

We CAN do genetic engineering now. I've done it in my AP Biology Class on bacteria.

And once it becomes more widely used, the price goes DOWN and more people can afford it.

STill.. genetic engineering+cloning will create a genetic elite in the richer countries.. and plus.. what happens if some new disease appears and ravages the clones, who are not genetically engineered against it because it is new?

That's not a unique harm... there can be new diseases even without cloning like AIDS.

I dont see what you're talking about with uniqueness... i mean.. like an epidemic or something and the clones are all susceptible to

If there was cloning.. then what would be the point for the word "unique" ?

Kathleen! How would you like to be a clone.. specifically created to be tested on for medical purposes?

All the clones are still different from each other.

A clone of me is different from a clone of you.

Disease already wipe out large parts of the human race. It's not cloning-caused.

She won't be one. Thats all that matters. No sarcasm there. I mean we have nothing to worry about, so more power to cloning.

Still.. why would you WANT to clone yourself? and how do we make sure ppl dont abduct someone and clone them?
