Sometimes when my graphics aren't accepted. I'd like to know the reason why they weren't accepted, so that I can work on it and know what not to do the next time I make a graphic. What do you guys think. Do you think they should state the reason why the graphics you made weren't accepted? It would be a lot easier if they did.

agreed. Giving a bit of reason on why a layout or graphic wasn't accepeted would be nice.

well obviously that would be preferable.
isnt there something on the form for layouts where mod sgive a reason if they were rejected? could thi sbe implemented for graphics? the onl yproblem woud be that it would be time consuming, and from the rate i see that section growing, graphics come in fast, so it would take AGES to go through them all |

Clean and uncluttered design Readable text and hyperlinks Pleasant and suitable color scheme Clear theme Originality Reasonable loading time Balance between graphics and text Easy navigation Fair size and quality of image(s) Bad Poor organization Overuse of scripts Poor quality images Jocked images/layout Misaligned elements Inappropriate/offensive theme Use of sTiCkY cAps Broken images Tacky text or image effects Too bright or busy background image Use of sliced images (5 is enough) Use of ad remover |

no no, i meant that when a member gets a rejection letter for one of their layouts, there is something which gives the reason the layout was rejected.
or am i wrong on this? |

no, you're right james, when a graphic or layout is rejected the mod states why.

Not always. I used to try and put a reason why a certain graphic was rejected, but...people usually take offense to it, and only the reason is sent in the PM. Nothing more. Just us saying "Only brushes, and is too simple" or "...Inappropriate" and can give members the impression that we're insulting them and/or their work. [Which is more awkward than just a simple default letter. Especially when you can't remember what graphic they're talking about when they PM you back...]
Which is one of the reasons I started not filling out the reason-why-rejected form ![]() |

^ That may be true. But perhaps you can make a rule that you must include the link to your rejected graphic to get the reason why it has not been accepted.

There is a space for staff to put in a reason for rejection even for graphics. The staff should be doing it though. But Julie is right, every time I reject something now, the creator takes offense because they don't receive a sweet rejection letter. I usually do provide a reason.

^ I agree with you. The creator should take the reason that is given to them and work on making a better and improved graphic.

Okay. Fine. I shall take your advice and do that. Maybe I should be more clear..when rejecting.
I'd also like a link to their image[or layout, too] and maybe an automated message in addition to the personalized message. [too shy to ask, though :x] I mean, so they know what it is and could be told that if they PM back a mod, they won't always get a reply back, it may be pointless, it's not personal, et cetera. Okay, okay, I'll try to be more helpful. ![]() Wait. Question: What would you consider "helpful" and what would you consider "rude"? I mean, saying "it sucks!11" ...is not helpful, I know.. I'd just like some examples ![]() |

Be blunt just encouraging such as:
The quality of this avatar is poor, try looking for clearer images. (insert cheesy smiley) Let them know that you're not saying it to be mean, but helpful. ![]() Blunt I'm sorry but your graphic was not accepted. There are far too many brushes used. Try cutting down on the brushes. Please, continue to submit graphics. Your hard work will be payed off. ![]() Rude I'm sorry but your graphic was not accepted. I'm sorry to say it, but it is hideous. Where did you find that picture? ![]() ^ Okay so I overreacted on the rude part. ---- I think it's easier if you have common reasons for non accept graphics already set. For example, if poor quality turns up a lot in the graphics, you could have a message like that already saved so you can save time and be helpful! |

I'm sure most of us try to give specific reasons on why a certain graphic was rejected. Also, you can always PM the staff who rejected yours for a reason.

I always give reasons when someone PMs me - and I try to give reasons as much as possible when I reject. The thing is, sometimes we have so many pending submissions, that we have no choice but to just push the button and go on.
For people wanting feedback, I suggest submitting a few graphics at a time - not 20 of them all at once. |

Hm, this sounds like a good idea. The creator just has to be not pigheaded, and better not start a bashing topic saying, "OMGSH THE MODZ SUKZ @$$!! THEYZ SHOULD ALL LIKE, GO TO @#%$ CUZ LIKEZ THEY DIDNTZ EXCEPT MY GRAPHIKZ! AND DEN DEY TOLDZ ME DAT IT HAD POOR IMAGEZ QUALITYZ!! AND I THINK I NO HOWZ 2 MAK3 GRAPHIX! YOU GUYZ SERIOUSLY NEEDZ TO EXCEPT MY GRAFIX CUZ THEY R DA BEST & EVERYBODY NOZ IT, U GUYZ R JUST JELUS!! WTFH IS UP WIT DAT?!" They just need to take it as constructive critisism.

honestly, ive gotten 5 pms in the last week asking why ive rejected graphics, and because we look at 30 a day i have no idea what your graphic looked like, or why i rejected it. yesterday there were 20 graphics (16 submitted by one person), and with that its just easiest to push the reject button.
ill try to give more feedback, but sometimes, its hard to give feedback without sounding rude. ![]() |

^ That may be true. But part of being a designer is to take the C&C that is given to you. I sent in about 4 graphics last night, three of them were rejected.
QUOTE Thank you for submitting a graphic. However, I'm sorry to inform you that your graphic submission was not approved. I encourage you to continue submitting, I promise you, your hard work will pay off! It doesn't really give me a reason why they weren't accepted. ![]() |

Mods have a lot to review sometimes. What we have is an option to give reasons - if we don't fill it out, it sends the standard rejection notice. What some people really don't understand is that there can be SO MANY submissions to go through that it's impossible to give a reason to everyone. We do our best, but sometimes it's overwhelming.

Yeah, this was an issue before because there was no way to include a reason. That's why Jusun added the part at the end so if we decide to reject something, we can give a reason why.
However, maybe there should be some sort of form.. When a graphic is rejected and no reason is given, you get a PM that's like "Sorry to inform you, but your ____ has been rejected" or something like that. If you leave a reason, the only thing that sends is your message so most of the time it's like "The image quality is bad and the colors don't match." So then the person thinks you're just insulting the graphic and don't realize it's been rejected necessarily. Instead, I think it should send the default letter and if someone includes a reason, it should say something like this at the end: QUOTE The moderator who reviewed your ____ also left the following reason(s) as to why it was rejected and how it can be improved: And then there's the list. If that was the case, the moderator wouldn't have to worry about necessarily being nice, it could just say something like: QUOTE The moderator who reviewed your ____ also left the following reason(s) as to why it was rejected and how it can be improved: - poor image quality - colors don't match - add some brushes or textures See how it's not in complete sentences? And it's not filled with "Awww it's okay, keep trying really!" It took two seconds to write that up. Just a thought. ![]() |
