i so agree^.i overheard/accidently eased dropped on some people who think theyre 'popular' talking about how to not have their periods and talking about sex..like having birth control. and having sex like theres no tomarrow. kind of akward.since their sluts in my opinion, but i dont think schools should distribute them because students can go get condoms them selves at stores/etc.

Exactly. And there is so much gossip at my school. Even if they were sold privately I'm sure some people would still be able to find out who had gotten one. And my friend throws tampons around at school. Think of what she'd do with a condom _dry.gif

I don't really think so- it makes the kids think that it's okay, as long as you're protected, to have underage sex, but it's not. Nothing is ever 100% safe and worry-free except for having no sex at all. I think that just having health ed. pound it into kids' heads is enough.

No. Schools should not be handing out condoms. First of all that's people's personal matters and second I know people at my school would play with them, throw them around, etc.

Yes, but imagine this. A young highschool couple is caught up in the heat of the moment. The girl realizes she doesn't have a condom. "Wait," she says. "Do you have a condom?" The guy blushes and says, "No.. sorry..I was too embarrassed to go into the drugstore.." After about two minutes of thinking, they decide to have sex anyway, because she's done it before, unprotected, and she didn't get pregnant.

Nine months later, at the age of 15, the girl has a child that she cannot take care of.

My sister (she's 20) had sex without a condom. Luckily she didn't get pregnant, but the point is that having a condom distributed to you, or even having one at all, doesn't make anyone think it's more or less okay.

Students couldn't care less what the school says is okay for them to do, because we all know they're going to have sex anyway, no matter how many talks or health classes they get, because when he's in the heat of the moment, no horny teenager is going to say, "sorry, no sex. i don't have a condom."

huh.gif Do you think they're going to be any more comfortable asking for a condom at school?

The question is about distribution, not asking for them. They're two different things.

I think condoms SHOULD be distributed at school? Why because if they did im SURE we wouldnt have as many teenagers with STD's or We wouldnt have as mny teen pregnancy's. ALTHOUGH Some teens might find that a BAD/OFFENSIVE thing i think its tottaly great to be as informed as you can about condoms and condom use. happy.gif

I think there should be... it might just lower down the risk of any unwanted pregnancies or further spread of diseases...

Even though I agree with you, I say that to my boyfriend all the time. When we're in the heat of the moment, we just find other fun things to experiment with. It just all depends on the person.

But yeah..the school should just have them around. I don't see any harm in it..

And Caitlinnn, one of your issues with this is that you're worried they'll be thrown around at school?? Who cares..

No, because people in high school are NOT supposed to have sex. They're far too young.. Seriously. If you don't want to get pregnat (or ger someone pregnat) just don't have sex. It's that simple. You have your WHOLE lives to have sex after you graduate, right?

Well, teenagers are going to do it anyway. In the moment they're not thinking about how they have their whole lives ahead of them. It hurts no one to have them around in the nurse's office.

Yes, of course, there are these teenagers too. Oh well.. I would love it if it was mandatory for the nurses to call their parents to let them know rolleyes.gif

You must be kidding, I hope. _dry.gif

It's not the nurse's business to be calling the parents. How weird would it be if my parents knew each and every time I got a condom from the nurse..

But seriously. stubborn.gif Your intimacy between you and your boyfriend/girlfriend should be kept private. Not even your parents should know until you're ready to tell them. There's a certain amount of privacy each teenager needs.

If you're not mature enough to go to the drugstore and buy yourself a box, you shouldn't even be having sex.

I think that they should be to help prevent pregnancy and all. But... parents may see it as if the school isn't bothered about teens {under 16} having sex. There could be huge controversy (hope that's spelt right) about it.

they shouldn't, but they will. even though it might be "their fault" for having sex in the first place, trying to help the situation won't hurt.

Most definitely. Of course, they're going to say, "The school's advocating under-aged sex!! How dare they!?"

That's why I said, they should be kept in the nurse's office, and a student should feel free to go down there and get one when they need it without the parents having to be contacted.

Bottom line: if their parents don't approve, then there's a chance that it's not right :) And teenagers do need privacy, of course, but not THAT kind of privacy. Then you ask why there are so many teens who have ruined their lives due to pregnancy/STD's. Hmm.

Well, there's a lot of things my parents don't approve of, like me going to my boyfriend's house. They think I'm having sex, but I'm not.

And yeah, teenagers have ruined their lives by having sex unsafely, but I don't see what the parents knowing about it has to do anything with it. No matter what parents do to try to prevent their kid from having sex, the teenager will always find a way to slip through the cracks. I know that if I was really determined to have sex, I'd do anything I could, I'd try to use any opportunity that came up.

Depends. Wouldn't matter to me. I'd obtain them anyways. :><:
Probably be denied because it would "promote" sex as a matter to safe sex anyways.

Yeah, that's what my argument used to be on my old account.

I don't know, I really kinda think that this debate is pointless; I HIGHLY doubt that condoms will ever be available in schools exactly for that reason: too many people will think the school's promoting sex.

Actually, I don't really think I'd really have sex if my parents were strict and absolutely forbid me to do it, it or did everything to prevent me from doing it. So that's a part of why when the parents know, the kid will be less likely to have sex.

But you know, if people want to ruin their lives.. let them learn the hard way.

A guy in my class was chewing on a vanilla condom because he didn't have gum.

But I think that there should be a condom distribution because in school, there are many sexually active teens. Also, it would protect them somewhat from getting HIV/AIDS
