Bear with me here, guys.
I have a close friend who I've had a crush on for about a year now. He's smart, sweet, opens doors...he's everything that a girl would dub "knight-in-shining-armor-boyfriend" material. Thing is, he's moving at the end of this year and I haven't told him about my feelings yet in fear that he would flip out and start acting different around me. So prom of course is coming up, and all of our friends keep saying we're the "it" couple that everyone is waiting to get together. He already has a date that he's going with, and he made a point of telling me they're only going as "friends" and he won't go unless I go. Of course, I don't think this matters since he already has a date. Anywho, we were cornered the other day by I group of mutual friends that pratically told him to take me to prom. Needless to say, it was rather awkward for both of us and he started acting really weird around me, even demanding that I go with his best friend. Guys out there...what's up? |

I don't see how this is a soap opera at all... But anyway, just go to the prom with whoever and have a great time. Don't steal him from his date. Try to soak up as much time as you can with him before he moves away, but it's best not to get romantically involved with him long distance relationships rarely work out.

maybe he's just shy or whatever around friens? hmm, why don't you just go with someone as friends as well, and perhaps you two could hang out together? or the four of you could hang out together. i don't know, i've never been in that kind of situation before. i think you should tell him you like him though. i mean he's moving and this might be the last chance you get to tell him you know? all those "what if" questions are going to haunt you forever. just tell him. if he's still acting weird after that day or whatever just tell him that it wasn't your idea(what they did) and that you plan on going with someone else as well? ehhh i probably don't make any sense. let me just stop right there

Try to soak up as much time as you can with him before he moves away, but it's best not to get romantically involved with him long distance relationships rarely work out. I think that maybe this is along the lines of what HE might be thinking. He does seem to act like he likes you, or is realizing that he has feelings for you, but I think maybe he's afraid that moving will ruin any romantic relationship you two have, and that you'll keep contact better as friends once he's gone. If that's true, then it would explain why he wants you to go to prom, especially with one of his friends- you two will be able to spend the night hanging out together but there won't be any romantic tension to ruin it. People go through changes when they start dating someone. I've always been happier single, and, once or twice, have almost lost best friends because I tried dating them. Maybe he's afraid to lose you: I know that I would rather have my crush as a friend then ruin our relationship as boyfriend/girlfriend. So just enjoy the time you spend with him. If you end up confessing that you like him then maybe good things will happen but my theory is that he just wants to stay friends for his sake, and yours. |

I haven't read the other posts, so I might've missed something, but here's my advice: just go for it! What do you have to lose? He's moving, and if you don't tell him, you will regret it. |
