QUOTE(ikayto @ May 22 2005, 7:02 PM) Nope, i dont read it because i have better things to do than read a bunch of legal jargon. If it tries to sneak any 3rd party stuff, my sp2 should catch it trying to add something to my registry or what not. oh well, all that crap is to protect them from idiot no life scammers I hope you honestly didn't mean Windows Service Pack 2 is going to help you out if you get spyware. If you care about not getting spyware, adware, or anything like that on your computer, try out a better operating system. Windows is the most unstable OS out there. |

Nice bump.
![]() And I *always* read the T&A. To me, it's like washing an article of clothing without reading the cleaning instructions on the tag. I wouldn't want to put something that shouldn't be put in the dryer, in the dryer. Same thing goes for software. I have to make sure everything is compatible with my current resources. Sure, it could be included in my long list of anal rententive behaviors, I just feel more secure in doing so. Also - sometimes if you just skip to the end while installing, you might override some of the default launch programs, which could get seriously annoying. (For example, I don't want Quicktime to be my default media device, but if I were to just click next -> next-> end -> and so on, while installing I might inadvertently do so). |

I think I've read a whole terms and agreements once in my life. The other times I tell myself to read the whole thing, but then I end up reading half of it and skimming through the rest.

Uh. I skim through it. I've installed way too many programs that expected me to install x program along with it, and it was in the terms. I think. I don't know, but if I "trust" the site and program, I lightly look through it.

I used too.
But I stopped after a while, I realized it was kinda pointless. Though, if it's a program that I'm really not sure about then I'll read them. |

No, unless I'm bored outta my mind.
I'll read four words, then check, "I accept the Terms and Agreements" and go to the next part. |

I skim through it. I see some things over there, and over there. Most programs say almost the same things. Yep yep...I did at first, but once you get the just of it, and after downloading so much junk, you come to realize that most of them DO read about the same things...mostly that they arent responsible for what YOU do and stuff like that....they are pretty much protecting thier own asses...which is totally logical. ![]() |

Nope. I think it's pretty much common sense when installing a program, you -should- know what you can and cannot do.
