What on earth is she talking about? Well, have you ever found it really hard to spell things correctly on the computer after an AIM conversation? Yikes, I have.. in fact right now... it's taking me 2 times longer to type out this post. ....it's annoying...

Anyway, I find it especially hard when I'm trying to right a paper - I start using abbreviations. So what about you?

I remember I used to type Liik3 diiszszsz, it was about like, 5th grade? It was hard for me to type essays and papers since I wouldn't be using proper spelling. Then, I got over all of that and I type normally now.

Yeah, I spell things correctly, but it's like my fingers are on fast forward mode, so they make more mistakes...

Not really, I usually type normal so I don't have a problem with using abbreviations. However, since I type fast I do mess up every now and then but it doesn't have anything to do with aim or IM.

I used to type with abbreviations and it was full of "u" and no g's in ing's. It didn't help with my papers and it would take me a longer time to write them. That's why I type with apostrophes and whatever when talking on IM or here.

I hated how I use to tYPe LiKeSz ThiSz.
It would mess me up on things I`m tryna type normally.
Or when I typed things like.
kik or using the 0 as an o.

Yea, i used to type all...irritatingly. Proof? www.xanga.com/liljay92 go back a bit. I disgust myself.

Anyway, no, that never really happened to me because it wouldnt be a reflex for me to shorten things, just a conscious choice.

I can spell correctly most of the time but serioulsy I don't proofread what I have typed so the grammar is all wrong.

No, actually..I have a hard time not spelling things out in IMs and not using full sentences. When typing an IM, I always correct myself if I don't end something with a period, so I just send one with nothing but a period.
:\

I never typed...oddly, the only thing I ever did was not type in capitals. Maybe I used a "u" once or twice.. and "lol" after I noticed a friend using that, but not anymore.

Yeah sorta, I use semi-good grammar and spelling on AIM. I don't really use LOL or an excessive amount of l33t; but sometimes I get really caught up and when I'm posting and IMing I'll switch up words like "you're" and "your" for no real reason except neglect (and in most cases lack of sleep). A lot of IRL friends joke with me that I use actual punctuation in my IMs and IOL friends are always nitpicking my spelling!!! It's not that I can't, it's that I don't care about a few posts here and there.

Exactly, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Especially the "You're" and "Your" thing and using punctuation.

Sometimes I make a few run-on sentences in essays. That's probably because normally on aim, I break down my sentences
Kinda like
This
because y'know, seeing bits of sentences is so damn...
EASY!

I'm trying to avoid that nowadays.

sometimes i chat & do homework at the same time, and i'll use shortcuts when i'm writing a report on the computer or something, so it'll turn out really crappy. oops.
and i cant type now either cause i just got 2 shots, and my finger was bleeding, so i put a band-aid on it, and its hard to type with a band-aid on.

I use proper grammar even when using instant messenger. So, I don't have that problem. However, for some time I would always press "t" before typing anything at all on the computer because of the requirement to press "t" to open a chat box in the video game Medal of Honor: Allied Assualt. I played way too much MOHAA.

tYou know?

My settings were "y" for team chat, and "t" for everyone.
It was the quick chat box. I think the default setting are just reversed. So, "y" for everyone, and "t" for team. Why mine was changed? I don't know. But, I changed them for Call of Duty as well. laugh.gif
