Not all bands prefer to be completely underground and unknown to the general public. Some bands want fame and fortune.

But I could really care less as long as they keep pumping out fabulous music.

Yes, I said fabulous music.

The problem with that is to abtain such levels of fame and fortune you need to sign a contract. And, in most cases, that contract binds the artist, in many cases, not to pump out "fabulous music."

[I'm not being mean. I just wanted to sound it, so I could say, "Ya dig?" Cool.]

It's not a matter of staying underground; that's not what I meant by "publicity."

Their methods of attaining fame are tacky and obnoxious, not fame in general.

And as for the rest, Nate covered it.

Fall Out Boy is signed to Fueled By Ramen which I think does a good job of NOT binding their artists to be a certain way. All the bands in that record label have different styles of music. They have a hip hop/indie band for god's sake.

Is that what you meant by contract?

And as for their "ways of gaining fame" if you mean the pictures incident, Pete's sidekick got HACKED, you can't really prevent that. Or hey, maybe he put them out on the internet by himeself. He's a dirty boy.

I can see your point though because yeah I think TRL is tacky and just, stupid as well. They have to make money. This is their JOB. They HAVE to make money off of it. If that means going on TRL, so be it. Their loyal fans will stick with them.

i would sell my sould to the devil to get sugar we're going down out of my head. more troublesome than nicotine, i tell you!

well... in order to sellout, you kind of have to change your aim in order to become famous... if their aim was to become famous, then they havent really soldout, because they didnt change the nature of their mission.

all this is moot (*hits nicki with a filp flop*), however, because they give me aheadache, sellout or no

F.O.B.'s just popular now because they're on mainstream.
They'll die down soon, anyway.
Hopefully.

Hm, they can try to be, but they're not.
Well to me atleast.
I used to like them until they got all big and stuff.
That's when bands die out; when MTV/TRL finds out about them..

I give. Besides the fact that their music is irritating as anything, it doesn't count if they can't f**king play their guitars themselves. They're more interested in looking "cool" than playing well, and that's just awful.

(and that's spelled "righteously," by the way)

If the radio stations and MTV and FUSE and every other music thing wouldn't play their stuff every effing 5 minutes, they probably wouldn't be as bad. But then again, the guy's voice is just an open call to get a migraine. And PLEASE, for Christ's sake, if I hear someone say "A loaded GUN complex", I'm going to kill myself with the damned gun-that-isn't-actually-part-of-the-lyrics-but-kids-say-because-they're-brainwashed.

They're profoundly irritating & they can't produce anything good.

How's that?
Sellout? Totally.

Well I find their music whiny and just...poor. But as long as you enjoy the music, who cares if they're sellouts? Many could consider Death Cab as selling out but I still listen to them from time to time.

Nice ambient music.

i like fob.

however, from under the cork tree.. the whole thing.. just sucks. idk if thats before or after mtv or what. i just know its a different sound, and i don't like it.

and pete wentz is way cocky. when i saw him live he thought he was all that and a cup of tea. so him doing publicity stunts wouldnt surprise me. he's good looking though, i'll give him that.
