Every day she gives the world her best,
but the world isn't being very supportive.
It's broken her down a thousand times
and is going on a thousand and one.
Yet it still throws objects of mass destruction in her path,
to crush her dreams, her soul, and heart.

All she wants is love,
undeniable, fairy tale love.
But it does not help
that her prime example
seems to be falling apart.

Her parents haven't been happy for years,
and she knows one day she'll come home,
and her mom will be gone.
She loves her parents dearly,
but they drive her crazy sometimes.
It's all to much for a seventeen year old to handle.

Her father has a bad temper,
(something she hopes to never inherit.)
It seems he can only find her flaws,
but then praises her sister,
(who makes the same flaws.)
But isn't the baby always pampered?

Her mother is another story.
She feels her mothers pain every day,
and knows she wonders how the man she married
could have changed so much.
And it breaks her heart,
because she knows she cannot make her mother happy.

She finds herself in the middle of everything,
their mediator.
Yet the one time they side together,
is when it is against her.
And she is terrified because she knows one day,
her mother will be gone for good.

She wants to tell someone how she feels,
but she feels alone and embarassed,
and she doesn't want it to seem like she's desperate for attention.
Because she is not.
But she knows everyone thinks her family is perfect,
and woul never believe her in a million years.

Her friends are the one thing that makes her smile,
she would be no one without them.
And she has no idea how she will survive in college,
because chances they are going to the same one are slim.
So for now she just cherishes the moment,
and has the most fun with them she can.

Then there's the boy,
the one she's liked since sophomore year.
But he always seems to have someone else,
leaving no room for her.
However, this year is different,
this year he is single.

She absolutely adores him,
she just isn't sure he knows it.
And everytime she wants to tell him,
she fears she will be rejected.
So she continues to sit there and smile at him,
wishing he could magically know how she feels.

Maybe it would help if all her other relationships,
hadn't failed so miserably.
Or if she wasn't terrified of that first kiss.
But she isn't perfect.
And she knows her flaws will always haunt her,
keeping her from sleeping at night.

So she continues to go to school,
with that fake smile on her face.
As if nothing could ever go wrong.
When the reality of the world is falling,
and she just doesn't know,
how much longer she can hold it up.

It needs some more work but I just wanted to see what others thought.
